I've been using Chanel foundations for years (since my mid 20s on and off -- I'm 36 now). Recently, I've begun to suspect that they might be a large reason why my acne has never gone away. How many of you out there have used Chanel foundations and experienced problems? Have they been great for any of you?

ME! I've tried a few different Chanel foundations like the double perfection fluide and double perfection compact (and two others I can't remember) and they wrecked havoc on my face. This was part of my $1000 Chanel binge over the course of 6 months last year.
Sigh.

I ended up dropping all of my Chanel skin care and foundations.
I still use their lipgloss and I love their face primer (blanc universal). But I won't ever go back to their foundations because of the breakouts I experienced.

Luckily I swapped most of it away on MUA to swappers who wanted to try it. Still have the compact though (the double perfection powder).

I used many many Chanel products for 5 years. The Vitalumiere foundation, and I liked it. But, I have aged, and my maturity spots have appeared, so, the coverage was not good enough any longer. I found EL Futurist, and EL Re-Nutrive foundations. However, I recently discovered everday minerals mmu, and I love it. I never had breakout problems with any of Chanel foundations.

I'm generally not a big fan of Chanel foundations, I do find they block more pores quite a bit & the oil-free versions are just too drying for my skin. A bit off topic Razz but I also always have a hard time trying to find the right shade/colour with their foundation, so I don't even bother anymore. Imo you should try using a mineral based foundation.

i've found the vitalumiere ok for when i go out, as it is a bit heavier, but the teint universel is terrible. every time i have used it i have broken out, so i don't bother with it anymore[/quote]

Safire, I have stuck with Chanel for so long because they actually have colors that work with my skin since I am so fair. It seems nowadays, though, their colors have so much yellow in them that I just this winter started really trying other brands in hope of finding a better match. I was also trying to find stuff that isn't too heavy and a lot of their foundations are.

After reading so many posts here about MMU, my next step will be to try those. They sound so much better!
