What are the pros and cons of both treatments? Which would be better to get rid of eyebrow/forehead frown lines? |

First, there is NO botox VS restylane - they have two completely different functions...
I also don't think you can expect someone to answer your question re the benefits and problems of each in a forum like this, but if you just google your question, there is a wealth of information available.
There aren't any topical products that can provide the kind of filling function as restylane, if that is what you are looking for. There are various more and less effective topicals designed to "freeze" facial contractions though and there have been MANY discussions of the them here. You might want to try using the search function in the upper right hand corner. It's very good! |

Fillers like Restylane only last a few months. The more dynamic the treatment area, the quicker they diminish. Botox only lasts a few months too, but would require less injection sites than fillers, for obvious reasons.
Like katee said, it's a comparison of apples and oranges. Without knowing more about your individual condition, I'd say Botox would be something to try first. It would be more difficult to fill a long, horizontal forehead line, for example, and get an even application of the filler along the length of it. Shorter lines, like verticle "11s" would be easier to fill. Some people even do a combination of both! |

You just have to remember that Restylane temporarily "fills" the wrinkle or line and Botox "freezes" the area so you can't make the wrinkle or line. Both are temporary , costly, and last between 4 and six months. It's a matter of preference. |

hm I have googled the two but I can't really be sure of how accurate the info is, as a lot of the sites I have checked out are by companies pimping their products
I was kind of looking for people who had undergone either of the procedures so I could get feedback from people with firsthand experience and compare the results |

Hi christiania - I should have mentioned in my first reply that I've tried both for my "11s" (but Zyderm Collagen rather than Restylane). I preferred Botox. If my lines were worse than they are, I'd do it regularly. It's thought by some that regular Botox injections will prevent furrows from becoming deeper over time.
For either procedure, a numbing cream can be applied first to help offset the pain of injection. An experienced doctor will get the job done fairly quickly, making it more tolerable. But like I said, for long lines across the length of the forehead, it could be problematic to get a smooth, even application of filler.
Have you tried any retinoids or AHAs? They can each help diminish fine lines. If you haven't already, you may want to try them first. Some forum members then follow-up with peptide topicals that will temporarily freeze movement and maybe even puff out the lines a bit. Others also use hyaluronic acid products to help diminish the look of lines -- HA's a humectant and attracts moisture to the application site.
Even peels can make a difference by removing the dry outer layer of skin. I like enzyme peels the best so far (PSF Pumpkin Peel, Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel are two froum favorites).
Good luck! |

I've had both. Botox for my 11's and restylane for the tiny lines in my nasolabial area. As mentioned, very differant procedures for differant reasons/results. Both last about 6 mos., although botox for me sometimes last 8-10 months depending.
I also use TNS and aha's and have peels and micros to help with the fine lines. |
