Hi everyone, this is a review for the Laura Mercier Illuminating Brightener. I am absolutely amazed that this product has faded all except one of my freckles in two weeks. I have not got a big problem with pigmentation, just a light drizzle of freckles over the bridge of my nose and on the cheeks. I have tried a whole host of products to lighten this area with ingredients like glycolic acid (not on friendly terms with my skin), kojic acid, mulberry extract and even the more far fetched grape extracts of Caudalie's Vinoperfect. Nothing has worked as quickly and effectively without a trace of irritation as this product.
That's the results I have experienced and now I'll thread carefully into the technology behind the product. I know it contains Pinchi or was it Kinchi extract which is carried deep into the skin by nanocapsules to inhibit the production of melanin. Other supporting ingredients are whole (not extract of) green and white tea as well as Japanese Deep Sea Water. I must admit that this did not sound very convincing to me, but it works...
Apparently, it is crucial to wear a good sunscreen while using this products as your skin's defence/melanin production to the sun is put to rest.
Finally, I know the standard of the reviews here is very high and I hope you are overbearing with a newbie wanting to share these unique results. Should I post the ingredient list as well? Let me know if you have any questions. |

Does this work on arms and legs too. Have lots of sun-spots from my days as a sun-worshipper!
Hydroquionine (sp.?) did not work for me. Used 5 months and nothing.
would be great to use something that gets results. I would even settle for fading!! |

I don't see why it shouldn't and would say it is worth a try. I saw a difference on quite light coloured freckles and will update on how it works on the darker ones as well. |

smoothskin - thanks for the review. I have been searching for a product to use that is not Hydroquinone. I think I will give this a try! |

Hi Rileygirl and Sportygirl, I am glad my review was helpful and look forward to hearing if you have a great experience with this product. Now I am just wondering if there are any views on whether supressing the melanin production is a good thing in the long term... |

Great review. If it's not too much trouble could you please post the ingredients list? 4% hydroquinonone was the only thing that worked on my freckles but after a few weeks I developed an allergy to it. Hopefully the Mercier will not upset my sensitive skin. TIA |

Sounds like a good product. I have never looked at Laura Mercier, perhaps it is time to browse.
That Pinchi/Kinchi I think is also an ingredient in the new Remergent Skin care line too... and good to see that Shu Uemura is not the only one selling Japanese Deep Sea water. (We can now get that as a drink - but desalinated I hope - here in Japan!) |

Hi everyone, I have the correct name of the main ingredient now; it is Chinpi extract. Jamie630 did a google on it and found that it is a Korean extract called orange peel in the West. If you search 'chinpi' on the board Jamie630 provides a link about the ingredient. I have thrown out the box, but from what I remember it also contains deep sea water. |

I just wanted to update this review and say that it has kept my complexion freckle free through sunny Summer weather and I can not recommend it enough to anyone who gets pigmentation. |

That's the one It really is a beautiful product which also brightens the tone of the skin. It is a bit expensive, but I suppose for someone with stubborn pigmentation, it would be worth it. |

To the person(s) that tried this product, is this a product where you have to continuiously to use or are the results permanent? |

I think you have to continue use as it stops the melanin production when you use it. Let me also add that I received an e-mail from another forum member who had been discouraged from using this by a Laura Mercier SA who said it would not make any difference on proper pigmentation. I think it is great for preventing pigmentation and it faded my light Spring freckles, but you would probably need to combine it with a lightening product for dark pigmentation. Just thought I'd let everyone know. |

Yes, that's what the product description says:
"targets the formulation of sun spots"
and
"prevents the formation of Melanin" |

Okay, I admit I am very intrigued with this product. I have noticed so many spots on my arms, hands, and legs this summer and am wanting to try something to help get rid of them. Has anyone else had success with this product? |

Mammamia, sorry to say I tried it, and it did nothing for my freckles. Maybe if you have extremely light freckles it would work? |

Hi Rileygirl,
Thanks for the heads up. I actually just bought a natural whitening body cream that I tried for the first time today. I'm going to give it a go for awhile for my spots and then review it. If it doesn't work, at least the natural scent is lovely.
This new cream I bought includes an LPF of 30, (Light protection factor) which I have never heard of before. I started another topic about this but haven't had any replies yet... |
