This might sound like a silly question, but I can't understand how you can tell if something is blocking your pores Confused Although I have oily/combo skin, when I put on foundation, the only way I can tell if my skin doesn't like it, is if my skin feels overloaded. It feels like this when I wear sunscreen or foundation that is not oil-free. Is that what it means Question

If something blocks your pores, then you'd probably end up with blackheads and whiteheads.

It may just be a personal preference, that some foundations or sunscreens just feel too smothering and heavy for you. Different people prefer different strengths of coverage. But if your skin's oily, you're usually better off using oil-free products anyway. I'd just go along with what feels right to you.

If you are worried about your pores being blocked, then you might like to try the Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream and the Oil Cleansing Method. There are recipes for homemade versions in the DIY thread.

For me, clogged pores would give that uncomfortable feeling, or the feeling that my skin is oily. Usually a while after, I will get tiny bumps on some parts of my face, or increasing number of little discloration on my face such as blackheads or little bumps.

I find exfoliatiation helps greatly with clogged pores. Do it at least once a week. I find that the more I follow a routine skincare regimen, the better and clearer my complexion is.

Thanks for all your information Smile . I do suffer with whiteheads and bumps. I try to use all oil-free skincare and cosmetics, but nothing seems to help Sad . Since joining this forum, I have been able to pick up many tips and information on skincare that I never really knew about, so this website has proved to be really useful for me (thanks everyone) Very Happy . I always thought the best thing was to use salylic acid, but have come to realise that this seems to agrivate my skin even more. Since reading about AHA's I have just started using MD Formulations cleansing lotion for sensitive skin, and so far I have seen a marked improvement. Hopefully this will continue.

I have the oppposite problem - really dry skin, but it's all a question of trial and error. Eventually you'll find something that will work for you.

Best of luck, Sharon. Very Happy
