Yeah looks like those persistent small, flesh colored bumps on my face( lower cheeks, temples and forhead) were being caused by Vit c. Nothing could get rid of those. Now recently I stopped Vit C for a few weeks due to hot and humid weather so that there will be no layering.....and the bumps were gone. I put vit C again yesterday and today I can already see a few of them. I have tried Skinceuticals 10, 15, C+E ferulic, JB and homemade.....and i think(I am not a great observer) they all did the same........Does anyone have the same problem?...any other brand suggestion?....any other antioxidants????Please help!! |

I think you were having an allergic reaction.
Vitamin C skin care products tend to make my skin itch. I'm allergic to citrus fruits.
I had to endure a lot of skin itch during my first week of using Cellex-C High Potency serum but I'm fine now. I don't recommend you toughing it out. It's better to see a doctor about it and have an allergy test done. |

Thanks Yen! Is it possible for something to be an allergan(sp??) just in topical form because I have no known allergies otherwise....those bumps are quite small, not something others will notice but are definitely there.....Your itching remins me of my reaction to BP....but my skin never adjusted. |

Maybe it is an ingredient in the serum? Have you tried Philosophy's C powder? I love this product. |

I don't think it is an allergy as many on this forum, including myself, have similar bumps and breakouts from Vit C. I have tried too many to list here and the only products containing Vit C that I can use without any problems are Remergent, Valmont and Amino Genesis. |

I think so. I'm fine eating citrus fruits but any vitamin c product would make my skin itch. I've tried using Aloette C-Accelerator (it's a vitamin c powder that you have to mix with one of their serums) and it also made my skin itch.
Your bumps remind me of my pork allergy. I have a pork allergy (I have tons of allergies). I get little bumps on my forehead whenever I eat pork and I never associated the two together until I had my allergy test done. |

Vitamin C applied topically can also dry out dry skin, which can cause things like milia and blackheads. If you have dry skin, it might just be too much for you...
If you can, take Vitamin C internally.
There are other antioxidants that you can apply topically that are not drying, so that you can continue to receive the benefits that you are seeking from the C serums.
The only one that I can vouch for is the Ice Elements blueberry mask. It was formulated like a serum so that it sinks right into the skin, with good ingredients such as aloe vera, blueberries and blackberries. You can leave it on for as little as 10 minutes or as long as an hour... rinse and continue on with your other products. I use it up to 3 times per week, but it is so gentle that it could probably be used more often if you wanted... I would ask in the Ice Elements message board though before going overboard.
You can purchase this at http://iceelements.com http://hsn.com and a Canadian site that I am not familiar with the URL, but it is the shopping channel, I am pretty sure.
Take care. |

I have recently added PSF's Emergen C 12% and the O2 rescue serum to my routine, and i too, have gotten those tiny bumps. There's about a million of them (ok not that much), tiny and red all over my face. I can't imagine the O2 serum causing it, and i've not eaten anything out of the ordinary, so could it be the Vit C? Anyone else with this reaction? I will go without it this week and see how things go. I really hope it's not the Vit C- what am i going to do with a whole new bottle of Vit C? |

I have had those bumps.(they are really tiny, kind of like under your skin and when you look in the mirror from afar you don't see them, but when you move closer you do) I think I was using too high a vit.c. because when I switched to jansen beckett they went away. I want to move up higher though as my jansen and beckett is about two days away from being gone. I just got my sample of proheal today so I hope that dosen't give me those bumps. |

Are the bumps like chicken skin? Every since I chanced across this website, I have been trying out several new products and I noticed the area 1 cm below my lower eyeline (nearer to my nose) has tiny tiny bumps... that looked like chicken skin. Can't see it from far but if you are 4-5 inches away from my big face, it's definitely visible.
I am trying to nail down the culprit. I have not changed my eye cream, thus, it can't be it. The only two possible culprits that I recently used near that area are a) Neutrogena oil-free eye make-up remover, b) IS Clinical Super Serum that has 15% Vit C.
I sure hope it's not the Super Serum as I like the effects on the other area on my face.
Not sure if this chicken skin is milia... as it looks different from the two milia that is around my eye.
Thanks. |

I had the same problem with the teeny, tiny bumpies - almost identical to those you guys are describing. Here's the thread below.

There's supposed to be a less irritating form of C out there - MAP or something? I'll see if I can find it and post it.

Those little bumps are actually blackheads.
Their congested.
The fastest way to remove it is to get a professional extraction. |

They don't look like blackheads to me. They're tiny red raised bumps. Thank goodness my PSF 02 serum has helped calm it down a bit. |

I too was getting bumps from my vit C. I went to a facialist and was told to stop using it imdediately as it was irrating my skin. I have since stop and now no more bumps. Just presently trying to get rid of the scars from picking at the bumps. I think Vit C is made for some people and not for some people. I am definately one of those people that vit C is not made for. I now am looking for an alternative to vit C, maybe a vit A serum. |

The bumps described in the thread attached definitely sound like mine. Thanks for the link as I was tempted to get Pro Heal. I am experiencing some purging recently, probably due to Dr HCC (or recent stress) and thought Pro Heal would help. Guess, Pro Heal is out of my purchase list for now and I'll lay off the Super Serum for awhile and see if it gets better. My search goes on...
Thanks! |

i was getting those when i first started using Pro-Heal, but was able to stop them by initially diluting it by mixing it with Hydra=Cool. my skin can now take Pro-Heal straight (i couldn't do the mixing with one hand).... i think it's a matter of working your way up to the C strength slowly. start out diluting it with something. Okay, here it is...I've not heard of this company before - this was on Ebay. It's supposed to be a more stable form of vitamin c? |
Hi Maria
Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is what they're talking about, but it's not so exclusive as they make it sound. It's already in the JB C&C and Dianayvonne's triple C.
Though I never heard of the other one; Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate' (BV-OSC), might be interesting.
They're C esters so are more stable and the base should be more neutral and less irritating. I'd say that's true of the JB, but I'm not so pleased with the triple C, makes my skin dry and leathery looking. |

I've always had a problem with Skinceuticals vitamin C. I'd try to find another topical vitamin C. It seems like this irritating your skin. |

Thanks, Molly! I haven't tried Diane Yvonne's Triple C, but did try JB's C&C. I didn't love it, but I also don't think I gave it enough of time. Maybe I should have. I'm so dang impatient. I think at that time I was using WAYYYYY too man products on my skin as it was so it probably never got a fair shake.
