My skin has, for the most part, cleared up... Hallelujah! BUT... now I don't know what to do to get it glowing. It seems that I can't use anything too rich or I'll break out, but if I use something that is too light my skin gets flakey and irritated. I have pale, reddish, thin skin. Scrubs are an absolute disaster for my skin as are most acids, retinols and anything else that further thins the skin. Right now I use a mild non-foaming gel cleanser, a very mild glycolic toner and a thick cream that is oil-free. Thus far, this has been the winning combination, but I still have a lot of clogged pores around my mouth and chin.
I just want the beautiful, glowy skin that I hear all of you describe. If anyone out there has skin that sounds like mine and you have gotten your skin to that glow, would you mind telling me what you did to get you there?
Thank you,
Ali |

I may be jumping to conclusions, but if I were you I'd work on strengthening my skin barrier for several weeks at least (because you said it's thin, red etc. - it doesn't sound very healthy) with emu/HA/ALA/CPs, ie. lots of natural anti-inflammatory healing stuff and finally once your skin's healthier add some anti-oxidants for glow.
It's a boring answer but it's what I believe |

Obagi Action will help get it back in shape, use it only for a few days. Then I would try a sample of Super or proheal serum by IS Clinical. |

Maybe give Dr. Hauschka's Rejuvenating Mask a try? It's very gentle and safe for acne prone skin. |

I'd try to get a glow from the inside out. Drink pleanty of water, get a good night's sleep, and eat plenty of fruits and veggies. |

Thank you so much for all of the great suggestions!
Annie: What is that Obagi product supposed to do?

If you do a search for Obagi alilicious you'll find it's an extremely serious treatment using Retin A and (I think hydroquinone). It's mostly for badly photo-aged skin, especially serious melasma/hyperpigmentation problems. A lot of people have a bad time using it. You might go madder. |

I am second what Molly said!
Plus for a quick fix you can use Valmont mask or just go for nice walk, breathing deeply & enjoying yorself & surroundings! |

Hi Alilicious,
Congratulations on getting your skin cleared up! What routine are you using, if you don't mind me asking? I got excellent results from the derma wand for that glow I think you are describing...although I'm not positive it's the same as what you mean. It gives me a nice, even, pink healthy overall look. However, if your face is red as you described, maybe that not what you are looking for. The nice thing about it though is it also helps serums/lotions to absorb more effectively. Again, congrats on clearing up your skin, let me know if you have any questions about the derma wand! |

I get an instant glow from using Ice Elements 2 minute miracle exfoliation gel.
I totally love it and it is my most favorite product of all times!
I use it 2 - 3 times a week, however it can be used up to twice a day, if needed (one would know by seeing if the skin actually exfoliated when used x number of times if it needed it).
You can purchase this directly from iceelements.com or from hsn.com or in CA at tsc.ca
They also sell it in some spas and dermatologists offices but it would be impossible for me to tell you which ones! lol!
Good luck and take care.

Thanks Olyn... I have been using Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel, Glycolic Cleansing Lotion (toner) and the Control Cream which is a very thick, but not greasy or heavy at all, cream that helps with redness and irritation. Honestly, if you would have told me that this would clear me up I would have never believed it because I have tried everything.
You can go to MarioBadescu.com and fill out a skin care profile and they will send you some samples. They are extremely generous.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. HTH!
