I thought it would be fun to list the silly things we must do when primping, I hope everyone else does strange things too so I dont look like a weirdo.
Here are some of mine:
Showers make me grumpy, even when I worked I would still take a 20 min bath every morning. Drove my hubby crazy. I guess Im just a priss when it comes to that.
When I dont have my makeup mirror I sit in the bathroom sink to do my makeup. Ive gotten several weird looks from BF's b/c of this.
When applying mascara I have to count every stroke on both sides and make them even. I do the same when putting on deodorant, and blush, alawys an even #.(can we say OCD? )
I HATE the feeling of dry hands or feet, it makes me grind my teeth to the point of a headache.
I have a "face" that I make at myself in the mirror when Ive finished my makeup, you know the raised eyebrows kissy face....sooo lame. |

I guess I don't do anything too weird. Sometimes if I'm grumpy I'll mug at myself in the mirror when I'm putting my makeup on. You know, pull a grouchy face. I also emit a puttering noise when I do my makeup. Sort of like a raspberry but not so flatulent. Like George Jetson's car. |

Yeah, I guess you're right! I have to be careful because I make that sound when I'm bored too. My boyfriend thinks it's cute, but my coworkers just look at me funny! |

That's funny. My husband says that I sigh alot, except he dosent think its very cute! Actually he feels the need to point it out when we're watching TV. men.... |

I just cannot apply mascara with my mouth shut. It hangs open like a ------------'s (or a very gormless person) |

I don't have a makeup mirror either (though I need one horribly because DH likes to fog up the bathroom with his shower steam while I'm doing my hair/makeup)... Our bathroom has a HUGE mirror. It takes up almost the whole wall, and the sink/counter runs along the whole length of the mirror. The sink is off centered and the end is PERFECT for sitting on and doing makeup. I line everything up next to me and sit cross legged up there until I'm done!
Ummmm.... My whole morning routine is done in the exact same order every morning (get up, feed the cats, put contacts in, take the dog outside...) I don't know if that's odd though. I think a lot of people follow the same routine.
I have to check my eyelashes from the side. They must be curled PERFECTLY or I can't leave the house (yeah, I can be a little "particular" sometimes). I found a mascara that holds this perfect curl all day (it can hold for 16 hrs if it has to!) It's killing me that I can't wear mascara right now... I have to carry my curler around just in case my lashes start to fall flat!

I can't either. Mine always hangs wide open... DH once said I looked like a fish! I don't think it's physically possible for ANYONE to apply mascara with their mouth closed! |

Oh, yeah, I remembered one more, I save boxes to every cosmetic/skincare item I buy....its a sickness really. Then when Im using the product I'll have to go get the box and read the box/instructions every time I use it, like I dont already know how to use it...I think I really drive DH nuts.... |

I guess this would count....I buy myself nice things to use, and then think that they are too nice to actually use everyday. So, half the time, I wind up having them sit around so long, they go bad before they are half gone. I hate that I do that.
I also make weird faces in the mirror, but I thought that was normal. Oops. |

I think I've caught myself a few times with my mouth hanging open while putting on mascara But probably the weirdest thing was when I was in high school. There were eight of us trying to get out of the house in the morning at the same time with only one bathroom I would sit at the kitchen table and use the shiny toaster to look into while doing my hair and putting mascara on...And make toast! I also used to be able watch my neighbors television while doing this...the houses were that close together |

I totally do the mouth open putting on the mascara thing. The other thing is when I'm curling my eyelashes. I press and release 5 times on each side, counting inside my head ... 1, 2, 3, 4 ,5 ... haha. I don't know how I cam up with the magical number of five. |

My mouth hangs open when I do my mascara too! And I HAVE to have the bathroom ALL to myself when I do my skincare routine OR my makeup routine. If someone walks in I stop completely or yell for them to go away. I make faces after I finish my makeup too but NO ONE knows about that! |

Yep, I do this too, but it's so I can read the ingredients at a later point or to remind me what color a particular foundation ,etc. is. Why I just can't use the bottle/tube for color match is beyond me. |

I do that too.
I'm finding things out about myself that I didn't really think was wierd before.
I like the boxes that makeup and skincare comes in. |

Isn't it written in mascara instruction leaflets that you absolutely must leave your mouth gaping open whilst applying it? I could have sworn it was!
I also collect the boxes, even the ones I know I don't actually need to look at ever again.
Used to do the counting thing, but managed to wean myself off it (mostly). |

I have a special way to paint my nails. I read about it in a magazine more than 10 years ago as it is supposedly the best way to not smudge as you paint, and I've been doing it over since. I start with my right pinky, then paint my first 4 nails from right to left. Then I switch hands and paint the first four nails on my left hand from left to right. Then, I paint my right thumb, then my left thumb. It's weird, but now it's second nature to me. And the magazine was right--- it helps me not to smudge! |

HAHA - I DO THAT TOO!!! I have a huge bag just with empty skincare products. I have no reason why I do it, mainly just so that when I throw my used products away it looks better throwing it away with it inside the original box. But maybe I was subconsciously saving them for when I don't like the product anymore - I can give it away with all instructions/ingredients intact. I guess it comes handy now that I swap on MUA. |

OMG...what a cool post....Too many funny ones to quote...but ...
I sometimes get this funny tight feeling in my forehead which makes me very obviously restless and drives DH crazy especially when he is into middle of a serious discussion with me ...as I keep making subtle but different faces which he notices right away!....
Ofcourse it will be much worse once he knows that I am doing that to avoid getting wrinkles ....I already have some fine lines on my forehead due to 'raised eyebrows syndrome'...... |

I have a nail painting quirk too that I forgot to mention. After I'm done, I'll clasp my hands together, fingers interlocked, and stay that way until the tackiness is gone. It sort of looks like I'm praying-- but this way, I'm not tempted to grab for something and smudge my polish. I don't know how I came to doing this. But my sister does it now too. |
