This may be a silly question. I just broke a nail on one of my hands. My right hand all the nails are long. On my left hand my middle finger broke because I just slammed it into the washroom stall door and not to mention broke off my pinkie one too...now I look demented
So I have a wedding to go to saturday was going to just color them a nude color. My question is, when a nail breaks and you basically have to cut/trim it down, do you cut all the other ones off to make it unisen or leave it as is and just grow out the ones that broke and trim the ones that are long til they're all even again? I hate the thought of having to start all over. *sighs* |

I think it is really personal preference but I would cut them all to the same size and then go for a French Manicure to create the illusion of longer nais. |

I would cut them all short. Actually, I am always surprised at how neat short nails look when this happens to me. |

i always cut them all down when i break one off. I think it looks silly to have nine long and one very short.
No one really notices 10 nicely manicured short nails but boy everybody notices when 'one is not like the others'(the sesame street song).
It just sticks out like a sore thumb(or finger) in this instance...pun intended.
Whack 'em off girl! |

I feel your pain. I guess I'm a little late on input, since you've already decided on what to do, but I've always trimed down the broken nail and trimmed my regular length nails JUST A BIT. I can't stand having to grow them long over and over again. So I just give them all some polish or just put on a plain clear coat, and I'm good to go. In my experience, people never notice these things, and I'm exposed to a lot on them on a daily basis . |

I agree. I will often just break one nail, and it seems silly to cut them all down. I'll trim the broken nail, file it smooth, then make sure I coat it with a good nail strengthener. Then I paint them a dark color, and you really can't tell one is shorter than the rest. It usually only takes my nails about two weeks to get back to being long, anyway. |

I've tried a few times to save them, with nail glue. It works for a few days and then BAM! I bang it again somehow and now the damage is worse!
I may just trim the others down a tad and color them instead of something neutral where you can see the length of the nails. |

If you have a special event to go to and like your nails long, why not just have a couple fake ones put on ONLY the fingers that are broken. This way, your broken nails can grow out and you can remove the fake ones once this happens. I would not cut all your own NATURAL long nails, no way |

I always try to save a broken nail with super glue and end up breaking it off completely while "testing" to see how the glue is working.
Then I cut them all to the same length and paint them a bright color; short nails look better with color to me anyway. Long, colored nails are 80s looking.....they remind me of Dynasty and shoulder pads. |

Cut them all off so they match. Otherwise you'll drive yourself insane examining that one broken one and comparing it to your other perfect nails.
Whenever I try fixing a broken nail it always stays "fixed" for about half of the amount of time I spent "fixing". Not worth it in my opinion. |
