Can someone recommend where I can purchase excellent quality organic essential oils? I am looking into creating my own perfume. I'm also looking for a place that sells perfume making supplies, and cobalt blue bottles. There are a myriad of sites on the www, and I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the decisions. Thanks in advance.

Hi Thoughtcrime,

I just did a google search, and yeah, as you said there's quite a few. I wouldn't mind finding a good reputable source as well, though I have a feeling that my fascination with perfume is half scent and half packaging. I'm not sure if I'd get into making my own....

Did you know that there are one or two professional perfume magazines that talk about the technology and mixing different scents etc? One of them is called SPC (http://www.spc-magazine.com) but I can't remember the other. There are also some perfume making books Wink

Mabsy

ps. Sorry, I've been slack with my emails last week. I'm still working through them. I have so many work "do this by X/04/04" emails that I'm finding email avoidance quite theraputic at the moment Smile

I don't know if you've heard of a uk company called neals yard? Most of their products are organic and they do very high grade, premium organic essential oils. The website fro the uk iswww.nealsyard.co.uk but I'm sure they ship internationally.

Thank-you Mabsy and Abighill! I'll have to check out those perfume magazines and Neals Yard essential oils.
Mabsy, I know what you mean about the packaging, but if you do a search on perfume bottles, you'll also find some gorgeous ones out there. I have YOU to thank for this new found * spam alert *!! Please don't worry about e mail correspondence, I've been super busy as well Wink i am infamous for how horrible I keep in touch with people. :P

Hi Thoughtcrime,

I must admit I never really thought to do a search for perfume bottles.... I'll have a look. But I'm afraid to just in case this becomes another expensive hobby of mine Smile

I've just discovered Diptyque Philosykos. Wow! It's a beautiful scent! I WANT I WANT I WANT! Smile

Btw, caught up with my email Wink

Hello!
Mabsy, OOHH I'll have to smell that. I have a sample of Diptyque Tam Dao coming my way. I fell in love with Corso Como 10, and Pilar and Lucy To twirl all girly, but unfortunately my husband hates both scents. I'll probably still wear them when he's not around. He loves Lola on me. It has a strong patchouli base note, and as I used to drown myself in that in high school/college I'm kinda burnt out on it. You have seriously fueled a new * spam alert * in me--a rather expensive one grrrr Wink
Fantasia, cobalt blue bottles are better for storing essential oils to make them last longer, and no light gets in. Wink

oh, I see. Have you considered making your own bottles? It woud certainly be unique since you'd be the one designing them putting your own personalized touch to them. What do you think?Smile

Hi Fantasia, Wink
If you mean actually making the glass myself, no that would be way too time consuming! But it would be awesome if I knew someone who was in that field that could do it, or if I could afford to have someone make it for me. One can dream right? Wink I love the bottle for the perfume People of the Labyrinths--they are shaped like a lab flask-- very cool! If you mean designing the labels
that is certainly feasible.

Oooh! Perfume and Designed Bottles. My secret wish is one day I'm allowed to visit a Perfume House where I can see how people make perfume.

For all my life, my second career choice is designing bottles and jars and boxes for ...things, anything...I once even dreamed of being an architect...*blushes*.

I also love to name names. I love names, people names, city names, pet names...Some names make me think, dream, imagine and yearn to get to know, to be with, to keep in touch...For example: Tia, Bronwen, Midtdal,Baghdadsaryans, Xian, Qai Qiang, Hanoi, Tatiana...

Fantasia, I don't think Thoughtcrime needs any help in building her own line of perfume. She is the one with ideas.

But I'm flattered that you think so nicely of me. And that made me start to dream again. So, thoughtcrime, how about creating an Eau de Thoughtcrime Parfum that will make me very happy when I wear it, as happy as like when I just receive a love letter.

It will be so great if 5 years from now, Thoughtcrime will be so famous and so rich with her perfume line and still remember these silly talks...:P:P:PVery Happy

Oh My God, you guys I'm blushing. You're so humiliating! Babyfish and I should go into business-- she can design the bottles and packaging, and come up with names while I'm busy making perfumes, hee hee!... :P

I think we are kind of out of control since the start of EDS Lounge with these very out of this world conversations. It's your fault, Magda. I promise to write some fantastic product reviews very very soon. But for now, to please Fantasia, our cutest beauty junkie, I have to add: Fantasisa, we will hire the gorgeous men to be our "Thoughtcrime Parfume Sniffers". HEE HEE !Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy
