Do I need to use this every night or just a couple of times a week?
I am just wondering as I am not sure whether to go for the 15ml or 30ml.
30ml seems better value for money but if I do not need to use every night then 15 ml may be a better size. |

Also do Decleor balms normally have normal or very short expirey dates?
Just so I know how long I will have to use the product |

Hi rosebud,
I myself am starting to use the ylang ylang night balm and oil from samples, and was wondering the same thing. for me, personally, i would probably buy the smaller size since i would switch off with other moisturizers that do different things (lightening, etc.). |

The instructions recommend using 1-2 times a week as a purifying treatment for the entire face. I find that the first few times I use at night, I wake up with *wow* skin (like with the DH rejuv. mask) but its effects quickly wear off and can cause skin to be congested if used too frequently.
I have the 15 ml, and have used it regularly for more than 4 months and still haven't reached half.
My bottle which I purchased expires in Oct 08, so almost 3 years shelf life.
Let us know how you go with it! |

Oooops! I've been using mine nightly. I should have read over the instructions more clearly. I haven't had any bad effects yet from using it nightly, but I think maybe I'll cut back and get the same benefits without the potential to eventually breakout from it. I'd be curious how often others use it. I actually use the Ylang Ylang in my tzone and the Essential on my cheeks. |

Hi Rosebud!
I used mine nightly and after about three weeks my skin started to look congested. I went back to the spa I bought it from and the therapist said to use it alternately with something else, either by using it two days in a week or a week every month.
I started doing that (use it for one week, then use something else for the next three weeks) and it has worked brilliantly! Only thing is I bought the large jar and I've got puh-lenty still! |

When I first started, I decided to not heed the warnings of instructions and fellow MUA'er's experiences.... I used it nightly (sometimes even during the day on spots) for a few weeks. And I noticed that the blocked pores on my skin seemed to become more congested, and no more of that morning 'wow' factor.
If you have been using it for more than 1 week, then do a clay mask to draw out impurities and wait 1 week to begin again.
In between I like to use the Essential balm which is much lighter, or just serum based treatments.... and when I start again, the purifying effects are so much more obvious! |

I did the same thing only to break out. Now I pay more attention to how much YY stuff I'm using. Now with the change of season I know I'll use it less. |

I use the Ylang Ylang balm for 21 days, then switch to the Essential for a week, then back to the Ylang Ylang...my skin is sooo much better!
I also use the Ylang ylang oil everyday. Both the oil and balm take FOREVER to use it all up...good grief. I've been using my oil for almost three months and still have 7/8ths of the bottle left (I use 3 drops only) and thank goodness for the long shelf life. I'm a firm believer these three products are well worth the money!!! They last and last!!! |

I would suggest getting 15 mls....they really last for ages. |

Well after reading the responses I am now torn between the Ylang Ylang and the Every day Essential.....or is it worth buying 1 15ml of each!!
What are the scents like on these two balms? |

In my opinion, the Essential is stronger smelling than the Ylang Ylang, but not in a bad way. They are very "essential oil-y" and relaxing before bed. I use both and enjoy them very much. The Essential will last alot longer (they both last a freakishly long time...yay!) because I use it only one week a month compared to the three for the Ylang Ylang...but I will never be without these two products (and my Decleor Ylang Ylang oil and Mattifying Fluid, well that's 4) again! |

Personally, don't think the essential balm is great for purifying the skin. I use it as a treatment for most common skin ailments except blemishes - so my jar is almost 3/4 gone!!
Essential smells more herbal and 'earthy', whereas ylang ylang has this sweet sharp distinctive scent (unless I've bought botched batches).
I'm evening considering buying the angelique and rose d'orient balms because they treat dehydration and irritation.... I think we should just buy every balm
Qisme615 - I think the oil is meant for everyday use, just not the balms. |

Miranets - Thank you so much for the response.
I'll cut down on using the balm to 1-2x a week and use the olive oil. |

Thankyou for all your feedback |

Well my Ylang Ylang balm arrived yesterday and at first I was not too keen on the scent but it has grown on me and I find it not overpowering at all on application.
This morning I am happy to report I did have that WOW result, my skin looked fresh and glowy, my SO even asked if I was wearing make-up......RESULT!! |
