Most of you have probably heard about the shootings at a college here in Montreal this past Wednesday...
It's really horrible. One young woman is dead, two others in critical condition - 20 people shot in total. The gunman is also dead, reportedly having killed himself after being shot by an officer.
The city is in a state of disbelief and mourning. I have gone from shock to disorientation to sadness. I live right next to the college, and was there just 24 hours before to take part in an event that was going on. It was awful turning on the news and seeing students I had encountered the day before talking about their ordeal.
Please say a prayer for the students and families and all those directly touched by this terrible event.
(I know some of you have posted replies to some of my posts from earlier this week. Please understand that with what happened, I haven't felt up to posting.) |

I just will never understand what could possess a person to wake up one morning and decide to do something so devastingly horrible? There isn't any reason. I feel so sad as well for all the people who have been hurt by this and all their friends and families. The world is such a scary place at times, and it scares me too thinking of my nieces and nephews in their schools. I wish everyone could feel safe no matter where they are. |

Hi montealgal,
I've never had a tragedy like that strike so close to home, so I don't really what to say to you, but our prayers here in Florida, US are with you and your community. I hope you feel better soon. God bless you all. |

I think we as a society need to look at why so many people are feeling so angry, disconnected, and shunned that they turn to violence. Sharon Stone, who was in Toronto at the time of the shootings, said she thought the killer lacked love in his life. I think there's something to that... It makes me sad to see how many people there are who feel like they don't belong and are filled with pain.
Nikkilici0us, I agree --- it's scary to think about our loved ones being in danger.

I'm with you 100 percent on that, Moonstarr.
Thanks, Dealated, for your kind wishes. Thank goodness the human spirit is wonderfully resilient |
