Hi, ladies (and any gents who frequent), I have been on a quest for oil control for the last 30 years, I'd say. Most of those, I did not know what I was doing so the last 5 have been the most intense. Background: VERY oily skin so much so that I start shining before my makeup is even done being applied. It's great in that I have no wrinkles but drives me batty to shine like mad all of the time. Yuck! I have tried everything and I mean, everything! I own Decleor's YY oil, tried oil cleansing, Jurlique silk dust, mattifiers, milk of magnesia, and so on...no effect. What a pain!
Well, I changed skin care about 2 months ago and only use non-sulfate cleansers (natural, low sudsing, level Ph) and switched to using CPs/Emu oil and acids for exfoliation. This has resulted in now having better skin that rarely breaks out (if I do, the spots are tiny and quickly heal - overnight, in fact - thank you emu oil) and is remodeling as we speak. I have almost eliminated a few moles and am working on scar treatment, too. I also started the Perricone supplement prescription and added a few supplements to help control the oil, specifically:
Syntrax Guggulbolic Extreme
Source Naturals Beta Sitosterol Mega Strength
I had previously tried Vit.B and Zinc for this but it didn't help me. The Guggul/Beta combo did actually improve the oiliness but did not relieve it completely. I say improved because I can actually get through the day without constant touch ups resulting in a cake-y powdered look. Now, I only have to do it a few times and don't add powder except maybe 2x. Also, the guggul helps keep me slim so it's a dual purpose supplement.
So, recently I had purchased some PSF products including the O2 spray (big fan of this company). I didn't want to like the O2 and also ordered a sample so that I could send the big bottle back, if needed. Well, I fell in love w/the stuff. It really helps calm/heal and after my last 35% fruit acid peel, I had hardly the peeling/irritation that I did w/my last glycolic! I was "sold". I love the PSF products but the O2 is $$$ so I read about another oxygen product...
Zenbiotics O2 toner! It's only $12 for 2 oz. as compared to the $80 PSF (still love this). So, I ordered the foundation pack from Zenbiotics w/a rinseless cleanser and a few other items to try out. I am not giving up my regular products, however, but going to add thse babies in to my morning routine and keep my beloved Devita cleanser for makeup removal and then, of course, my acid/CP routine in the PM. Well, here's the fix I stumbled upon:
As you can see on the bottom of my neck, I have an acid burn from not properly neutralizing my TCA 20% spot treatment! I've been using the O2 to help w/healing and accidentally noticed that...after I finished with my routine, I sprayed the oxygen toner last. It immediately balanced my skin!!! I've done tests w/the PSF and the Zenbiotics and the results are exactly the same. I've been wearing makeup for the last 4 hours or so and it continues to keep my skin balanced. Here is a picture taken minutes ago. I am wearing only a light dusting of True Cosmetics minerals, touched up brows, a tiny bit of shadow for lining and my new fave Guerlain Kiss Kiss lippie in Beige Shine (super for glossy, natural look). I have no mascara on but tinted them 2 days ago w/lash tint and have been conditioning w/castor oil/Jane Marini lash treatment:
I think I will be ordering more of the O2 spray from Zenbiotics and use it for daily touch ups rather than powder! I've also tested this and it works like a champ. Just a spritz and the oil calms right down.
Yay! |

Hi,
I was wondering if the O2 Rescue serum helped heal and reduce acne. I dont mean only calming it, but reducing the infection?
I have looked at this product numerous times, similar to the True Cosmetics which I noticed you also love, yet I have not purchased it.
What type of peel are you doing? Your skin looks really healthy, and you look very young, as I do not know your age, you must be doing soimething right!!!!! |

Scalawaggirl, you have gorgeous skin! I too am a big fan of PSF O2. I didn't know it was doing anything for me at first but it took a bad reaction to Vit C serum for it to prove its healing and calming properties. Ironically it was the PSF Vit C that broke me out badly. |

I have been using this for about 3 weeks now. It truly is amazing stuff!!! So far I can't believe how it helps my blemishes heal! It really does attack the infection and reduces redness and swelling. I want to post a review of it but I am giving it plenty of time to really see how I like it. I don't want to jump to any conclusions... but so far it has amazed me. It's like it is too good to be true . |

Yes, as Amnis pointed out, it does a great job at helping heal acne. I believe that the key to beating that down, though, is a great routine to prevent most of the flare ups in the first place! Start w/your cleanser and check it for Ph, nasty ingredients and so on that affect the skin barrier - this can introduce more problems as I think was indeed my case!
Re: the peel I'm currently using, it is the 35% Fruit Acid from Diana Yvonne (www.dianayvonne.com) but I wouldn't recommend starting there as you really need to work up to peels and do test spots for reactions. I'm very pleased w/this right now and do it every 1-2 weeks. On a side note regarding that, I noticed that yesterday and today, I was peeling quite a bit - but in a very good way, more sheeting action and nice, pink skin underneath - and I believe that it's been due to this peel used in conjunction w/all of my other goodies!
BTW, thanks for the nice comments. I post pics in order to support my findings as I think it's very helpful to see the actual results. I'm a 40 year old grandmother so have really been working on holding on to what I've got and think I've really started to figure it all out!

Thanks, I've really been working on it and expect more improvements to come! I know what you mean about a product break out! I spent most of my life trying to avoid the mine field of junk products that made the situation worse. Now, it's more a matter of finding those that actually agree with my skin (as in your example of PSF Vit. C). Can happen! Glad you found a rememdy.

Yep, exactly what I thought, too! I even ordered the sample so I could send the big one back! I am sheepishly thanking Darren and the gang over there because I am a true, die-hard fan. I do like the Zenbiotics products as much but feel they serve difference purposes. I am going to use the O2 from Zenbiotics as my everyday spray and the PSF O2 for my big gun.[/quote] |

I've noticed the same thing!!! Like you, after I noticed the balancing effect of the O2 sprays I tested the theory with both PSF and Zenbiotic and they both worked equally well. When I use O2 all over after my toner, I definitely notice my skin is more balanced and there is less need for me to blot during the day. |

Hi Scalawaggirl..
So glad you've found a routine that works! Is it the Zenbiotic O2 toner (Oxytoner) or the Oxyreplenish that you like? Or both? |

Hi, I'm now using the foundation pack in the AM (along w/my other special products, ha!) including: Cleanser, OxyToner (skin prep), Phyto Moisturizer, Cell Renewal and finally, the Oxygen (soothe and detox). Here's what my AM routine now is:
· Cleanse with Zenbiotics cleanser, exfol with microfiber cloth, rinse
· Zenbiotics Oxy Toner (skin prep) sprayed on face
· BHA 2% all over then 5% on problem areas (nose/forehead) - rub this in gently with a soft toothbrush to scarred and blackhead-prone problem areas
· Exfol serum around eyes, lips; LacSal lotion on neck, décolletage and hands
· Mandelic acid all over (about 10 drops) - WAIT 30 minutes
· PSF Browtox on forehead and in between brows
· PSF DMAE Toner on face/neck then pat in
· PSF Cranberry Phyto-Lift eye gel followed up by PSF Stimucol-C under eyes
· ISC Super serum (face, neck, chest and hands)
· Zenbiotics Phyto Moisturizer sprayed on face
· Zenbiotics Cell Renewal Serum - 1 drop lightly all over while face is damp
· Zenbiotics Oxygen (soothe and detox) sprayed on face/neck
· SPF 30 Shiseido, if sunny and going to be out a lot - I rely on antioxidants (Super serum), if not, which is most of the time
Wow! Looks like a lot of work, but it's not. The biggest is the wait time after BHA/Mandelic. Almost everything else is a spray so very easy to apply! |

Scalawaggirl-
Have you found that rubbing the BHA into your skin with a soft toothbrush has made a significant difference in your problem areas?
Thanks for sharing - your skin looks fantastic! |

scalawaggirl,
So is what you call Zenbiotics Oxygen (soothe and detox) the one that balances your skin? And is that Oxygen Replenish? I only see 2 kinds on the site, Oxytoner and Oxygen Replenish.
Thanks! |

It's the Oxygen Replenish that's listed on the site. It says on the bottle, though, Oxygen (soothe & detox). I just ordered 2 more bottles for myself and the foundation pack, a bottle of the Oxygen, and an eye cream for my fiancé!
Whee! |
