I'm going for an interview today. Can I wear flip flops? Seriously.
I don't own dress shoes, except high ones, and those would look stupid with jeans. Yes, I am wearing jeans. |

I wouldnt, I rather be overdressed than underdressed, if you really want the job I would try to look as professional as possibe...Ive worn jeans to an interview too but always with heels and a nice blouse...Hope you get the job! |

I have interviewed many people for my job, and I would definitely take points off for flip-flops. Jeans, depending on the job, might be ok. But this comes from my background of interviewing blue collar men, who come in with nice shoes, jeans and a button down shirt that is tucked in.
There are some flip flops that are more dressy, more like sandles than flip flops, they are usually called thongs. In a very casual atmosphere, they would be ok with a dress or skirt.
If you are looking for your first job, I would definely invest in an interview outfit. You don't have to spend a lot of money. Check out Isaaic mizrahi line at target.

I'm of the belief that your dress reflects on you.. Even if it's a job that you can wear jeans to, the impression you want to give off, is that you care about your appearance, which translates to, you'd care about your job performance.. Professional, no matter how menial the job...
I can't think of any job that would allow an employee to wear flip flops, 'cept maybe a life guard.. Flip flops, sandels and the like are usually not allowed in any job.. OSHA rules...
In the job market, you want to stack the cards in your favor as much as possible, with so many people apply for just one job...

i guess it really depends on what position u're applying for, but i'd say try to avoid wearing flipflops since they probably don't make a very good first impression (too casual) |

I was applying at LL Bean today for a second shift position. I already work at the post office a couple of few days a week so I just wanted something 24 hours a week, but the lady did not give me that option. It is 36 hours a week. HELLOOO, I want to see my kids too.But, I guess, it is only seasonal and I don't have to travel for 45 minutes to go to llbean, they are hiring for the call center too in my town, so its not all lost. Anyway, I wore jeans today, and sneakers, (and they weren't clean either because I wear them for racing). Hehehhe. Gotta love it.
I got the job though. Get a good discount on their winter jackets anyways. Every year my husband and I go down and pick them babies up and it usually cost us about three hundred dollars, for the jackets and hats and mitten, that they always lose I may add.
I really wanted to wear my flop flops, but chickened out last minutes and threw those sneakers on without any socks. They didn't know. |

| In my current position I do hiring for my company. I once interviewed a lovely gal who was dressed professional to a "T". She was smart and gave a great interview. I looked down when during the interview process, not purposely and noticed her feet. She was wearing flip flops. At that very moment, I said "NO". People must dress for the position they are interviewing for. I think you need to dress up, instead of dressing down. If you get the job and the position allows flip flops, then have had it. I did not hire this very qualified gal. |

| I wouldn't wear jeans or flip flops to an interview. I was always taught to dress nicer than the position you are applying for. Pant or a skirt and a nice blouse would probably be ok. |
