To start with myself. I was never one for liquid foundations, because I hated the sticky feeling they give my skin (with a few exceptions), so before discovering MMU, I most of the time wore only a loose powder plus bronzer (and sometimes also concealer).
I have pretty good skin to start with, and prefer sheerer coverage. My skin is light-medium and has balanced undertones which are neither yellow nor pink.
Like "everyone else", I started out with BE, and medium beige, which was a tad too light, but OK with a bronzer. I wore it for two years with no problems, and still like it. But then curiosity got the better of me, and I "had to" try GloMinerals. I ended up buying both the pressed (Honey Light) and the loose base (Natural Medium), but prefer the latter because the pressed is a bit too matte for my dryish skin.
After that, I have tried:
*Lily Lolo (too yellow, too dry, looked dusty on my skin)
*Lumiere Luminesse (have yet to find a perfect match, but have ordered a second round of samples now)
*Everyday Minerals (Original Glo and Intensive=no perfect match, and I found the finish to chalky)
*Norwegian brand Kiss Me (lovely! finish, but the colour I ended up buying in full size was too light).
In addition, I just ordered some samples from Signature Minerals.
What about everyone else? |

If you have pretty skin mineral makeup is definitely the way to go. I have tried them all, BE, Aromaleigh, Jane Iredale, Everyday Minerals, Fusion of Color, Alison Raffaele, J.Lynne and many more that I have forgotten!
The best mineral makeup that I have found is alima cosmetics. The color range is rather large, but once you find your shade it is perfect. The coverage is buildable, the finish is natural and it stays on all day.
Alima also has samples that you can get of her foundations so you can try several before you commit. |

I've just tried Avanya and really like her products - kind of pricey but very good quality.
Have some UGlo Girl samples on order to try also. |

I have tried the following brands:
1) First one was Cory based on raves from MUA. Foundation too heavy. Samples for .35 ea and she does have nice blushes and eye shadows. Customer service is lacking and the smoke issue has not been resolved.
2) EDM next. I really liked this compared to Cory. Foundation did not last on me. Overated IMO.
3) glyminerals (out of business)
4) Signature
5) Lumiere - VV foundation is HG; kabuki brush HG; also nice eye shadows & blushes and free shipping to Canada with a $25.00 order.
6) Jenulence (former Alpha Skin Care) Foundation Concealer forumla - HG
7) Buff'd - heavier coverage but could not find a match (Cdn)
KT Naturals - I liked the original foundation sample; but names recently changed and the foundation sample I received in August did not seem the same as the orignal one received in the spring. I did order mini kabuki and other brushes and full size eye shadow.
9) T'val - cdn company. I ordered a bunch of MMU samples at $1.00 ea. Nice but not special. Also has skin care and skin care samples starting at $1.00
I ordered in Feb 08 again mostly skincare.
10) Ocean Mist - foundation samples were yellow.
11) Aubrey Nicole - a couple times a year they offer free shipping anywhere
12) Silk Naturals - mix your foundation. I also love her eye shadows, blushes and eye shadows. Nice organic lippies. I have ordered a few times from Karen.
13) Blusche - samples Dec 07. I ordered brushes during her prebrush sale and the new full coverage foundation free samples will be included.
14) MAD
15) melanage
16) Pure Luxe a couple of years ago. Samples did not reorder
17) Lure I really like the finishing powder. The foundation is light coverage. Nice body stuff. Shipping is cheap to Canada and they include samples.
Also PF pressed from the d/s (not really MMU IMO)
There might be more that I have not listed. I do plan on trying things from other companies. BUT I need to take a break and try the things I have.
I would add to my list Coconut Bay Cosmetics. They were offering free (no shipping charges) offer of foundation. I had ordered 5 foundation and 1 finishing powder. Light to medium coverage.
Nice, but not HG material
I have a few companies that I want to try such as Pure Ananda (Canadian) and some that I will continue to reorder from such as Silk Naturals, Lure and MAD. |

I've tried BE, EDM and Lumiere in various finishes, but I just could never get into MMU...my skin isn't nice enough underneath I suppose |

The two main brands I tried samples and purchased full sizer were Pure Luxe and Alima - a good selection of warm shades. I have tried bits and pieces of other brands but in the end the shade selection process was just too overwhelming. Now I have managed to improve my skin to a stage where a dusting of finishing powder can set the face entirely which I much prefer over a complexion that needs to be made up everyday. |

I haven't tried too many:
Physicians Formula
Everyday Minerals
Pur Minerals
We don't get a lot of the other brands mentioned in Australia. |

SkinRX was the first brand I tried, and was wonderful as it's first ingredients were titanium dioxide and zinc oxide...it had no mica or bismuth in it, and an spf 20...however the company changed the formula and that was that.
I couldn't find a color match with Aromaleigh, found Alima too drying, and Lumiere colors weren't quite right either.
Finally found UGloGirl and am happy!
As far as brushes go I have tried a squirrel flat top, UGloGirl flat top, Bobbi Brown kabuki and Alima's old and new #25. Best one by a country mile is Alima's new #25 as it applies light, even coverage (second place goes to Alima old version #25) so if anyone is thinking about trying a new brush, you may want to have a look at Alima. |

I tried soo many over the years and the one I keep going back to use is monave.com mmu. The products ingredients are what I like and plus they do sell their MMU and ingredients to the smaller mmu houses too.
Brands tried: Geographix, BE, Aromaleigh, Iluminaire, Canary, Pure Luxe, Botany, Monave, Jane Ireland, Alima and others that I can't even recall. |

I've not tried many as I am happy with Everyday Minerals and I think I've found a good match, and the price and S+H is very reasonable, with friendly and fast CS. However, I've found that the staying power isnt that great because when I blot my face, the tissue tends to rub off some foundation. I think its just my skin playing up and nothing to do with EDM brand, but the MMU kinda just sits in my pores, making it look like I've got some kind of white, indented spots.
However, other than that, EDM is a wonderful brand that I would rec to anyone.
I think my first MMU brand was Signature Minerals, which I found to highlight the flaws and blemishes.
I've also tried Alima, and that was too drying and flakey on my skin. It also looked chalky and I was overwhelmed by the shades, as there were quite a few to choose from and the photo/description wasnt true to life.
I do have LM here, which I've just basically opened to see how it feels on my skin but I've not worn it cos I'm afraid that the bismuth would irritate my skin. I'm still waiting for the day when I'm relatively clear from acne so if I do breakout from the bismuth, my skin wouldnt look too bad so I can handle it better rather than hide in the house. |

I have used Sheer Cover, and BE...and just ordered some samples from Everyday minerals. Can't wait to give them a try. Everyone seems to be raving about LM....so maybe that will be next on my list. |

I really should have known better. Now I want to test uglogirl, MAD minerals, Ocean Mist and Alima.
I have found a close-to-perfect match in GloMinerals natural medium, but that doesn't stop me. |

I've tried BE, Amazing cosmetics, and Everyday Minerals. EDM is my favorite; it's affordable, and I love the color selection. I want to try all their blushes and eyeshadows.
They launched the new beta site; they now have actual pics of all the colors, so choosing the shade is a lot easier. |

I'm using EDM right now, but it's the first MMU I used so I have no basis for comparison. However I have the sample from Silk Naturals and am waiting for a sunny day and some time to create my own blend (you mix your own) and see what I think. EDM is fine, but I'm not looving it - it looks a little heavy (and I'm using the matte, not the intensive) and doesn't last all day. I love silk naturals other products (eye shadows, blush, lippies) and can recommend them, so I'm hoping to love their foundation too. |

I've tried Jane Iredale and Bare Escentuals. I like the JI foundation colors, but use BE for Mineral Veil and Bisque. |

I think I've tried about 10, including meow, silk naturals, lily lolo, signature, alima...etc
i was alternating between meow and true cosmetics recently but then i tried samples of lauress minimalist and I'm in love!!!!
I could not get an exact color match and have to mix 2 to get the right shade, but it looks really natural, does not emphasize my pores and doesn't make my skin oily. what's not to like? |

I recieved my order of Lauren Hutton's Aqua Elements this weekend and so far I like it. I have tried most of what has been listed already- I do like that this MMU really does not leave you with that powdered look, no matter how much you put on. I have the start of a few wrinkles around the eyes and mouth along forehead and they look diminished with this rather than accentuated. Seems to last the day also. |

Five or six years ago I tried BE - too shiny, and it contains bismuth oxychloride (hope I have that right!) which made my skin itch like crazy! Could't get it off my face fast enough.
Got some samples from Aromaleigh, loved them, and haven't looked back. She has two "foundation" powders, one lighter than the other. I have to mix three shades to match my face, but I don't care and actually it's fun in an alchemist kind of way. There are lots of tips on the site, and a forum with very knowledgeable ladies. I love Aromaleigh! |

I tried EDM way back and liked it but it did not last as long as I liked. Others on mineral forums have said the same thing. You might want to try a primer and see if that helps. |
