Hi everyone,
I was recommended to use Vitamin C Serum to help treat my acne scars, and just purchased my first bottle the other day.
My question is, when's the right time to apply the serum? On the bottle it says to use it in the PM, but I have heard some people say it's best to apply it in the AM. I've also read that using it twice (both in the AM/PM) would be more effective.
So which is true? I just want to make sure I'm using the product correctly.
Thanks. |

Hi ~
Vitamin C provides antioxidant protection, and is photoprotective, particularly under sunscreen, so it's a good choice in the AM - it can also be used AM and PM, but it depends on how high the concentration of the vit C serum is, and how your skin tolerates it, generally. Increasing photoprotectiveness in the AM also has the benefit of reducing darkening of acne hyperpigmentation from the sun. That said, vit C tends to remain in the skin for a few days |

Agree with Marmalade 100% - I use mine in the morning and only once a day (20% concentration). I also make sure I use sunblock as well.

I use in the AM's only. Sometimes at night on a spot. But the big benefits of C in terms of free radical protection should be taken advantage of during the day. Free radicals that damage your collagen layer occur as a result of exposure to UV light, pollution and smoke. Not too many of us are exposed to any of that at night. I wonder about the C you are using and the advice you received. It is not compatible with the general knowledge out there about how C works. |

I think I saw on the bliss spa website that they have a C serum and they recommend using 2x per day...could be a good way to sell 2x as much product tho |

It sure does sound like a selling tactic to me. If it stays on your skin for something like 72 hrs, there is no need to put it on twice a day, it is a waste of a fairly expensive product.
