Hi,
Wondered if anyone can lend their advice??
I have just found out I am preggers and very happy but I just don't know what skincare, hair care, lotions and potions I can use. Its all so confusing and the info kinda scary!!
At the moment I am useing Eve Lom, vit c serum, HA serum, Alphaderma CE, emu oil and rosehip oil and clarins sunscreen. Are any of these no good for a baby? Also, what kind of shampoo and shower gels and creams should I be using? should I go organic? Or am I worrying too much?

#1 - CLEAN, Natural
#2 - Google EVERYTHING...alot of knowledge out there at your fingertips
#3 - An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Slather your skin with a good thick cream that has a Vit E in it.
#4 - Use your common sense....if it feels right, it probably is.
Congrats... (lol, sorry gotta say this...better you than me...) |

MiaT,
Don't pay any attention to those rascally gals who are gasping about pregnancy. Maybe some have gone through it before a while ago and are happily done with that part of their lives! Candy even has mommy products on her website.
You'll need to familiarize yourself with the ingredients in your products, then do the research. Weigh the pros and cons and see if it is placed first or last in the list. And don't just look at the main active ingredients but consider what's used as a preservative or stabilizer as well.
A big no no is any Vit. A derivative (ie. retinoic acid, retinol). Vit C is fine. Apparently you should stay away from salicylic acid but AHAs or glycolic acid is ok.
As far as going organic, it depends how strong your philosphy about organic is already. Being pregnant is a great time to re-evaluate the state of your general health and habits and decide what you want to pass on to a littler you. |

I used evening primrose oil from the very start of both pregnancies and I ended up with only one or two small stretchmarks and I was HUGE with both of 'em. Prevention is better than cure! |

Congratulations, this is an exciting time in your life All the best to you and your family. I just wanted to add that it is best to stay away from essential oils during pregnancy, which means that some very natural and organic brands are not suitable. Your skin will also become more sensitive to the sun, so to avoid any pigmentation I would advice not to use any glycolic or beta hydroxy acids. The brand REN was created for one of the owners' pregnant wife so that she could have safe, luxurious products for those nine months. |

This should set you on a good path regarding EO's during your pregnancy...

I'm not saying to 'go organic' or not. That's a deeply personal choice. Try too keep things simple. Remember, ALOT of the products out there are chock full of junk - that doesn't need to be there (read: save the company $$ making the product)OR to enhance shelf life.
Keeping things simple will also help when you start doing thru the stages of having a sense of smell that would rival any hunting dog... |

Thanks Guys!
I know scary times I really don't know what to expect! The Ren products sound interesting, I have seen them before and may give them a shot. I don't want to get too fanatical about it so knowing a few lines which are safe would be best for me. I am still concerned about what sunscreen to use.
I will definatley go for some thick vit E cream then.
Guapagirl did you take EPO internally, how much is ok?
Thanks for the link Candy I will have a good read! |

I took my skincare products to my obgyn and he said all of them were safe even the ones with retyinl palmitate. He said no prescription retinoids though (differen, retin-a) those are a definite no-no! He has a list that shows products and their safety during pregnancy. Best bet is to ask your doctor! |
