I have a very dark brown spot/freckle that I really want to get rid of that came on my skin a couple years ago. I am going to go for a laser consultation in a couple weeks. Has anyone gotten IPL or laser for something like this, and how was the results?

I had gotten IPL for some brown patches and it faded a bit, but didn't get rid of it completely. I have Asian skin that's very sensitive and prone to hyperpigmentation/melasma so depending on your skin type I guess results will vary. For me, it wasn't worth the $$.

I'm hoping since it's just the one spot and not a patch, it'll be easier to go away. But sometimes, I've read it can take more than one treatment to get rid of it all.

The good thing is I have read the forehead usually responds well because the skin is much thinner there, so it might not have to reach very deep. I hope that's true.

Oh, I just wanted to ask, what kind of laser did you get? And how did it look after? Did it make it worse?

I have brown patches on both sides of my cheeks. I have the kind that a lot of asian women tend to get and they are very deep in the epidermis.

I did my research and talked to my derm about laser. Only laser can get rid of the brown patches but it is not 100% successful. She told me laser may cause scarring, darken the patches, or even whiten that patch of skin.

She told me if I really cannot stand them, she can test laser on one spot for me. I am too scared to try it though.
