So all my life I have LOVED eye shadows with some shimmer in them. I always thought matte eye shadows seemed so "boring". Well, consider me converted! Yesterday I wanted to do some makeup shopping and was trying to think "what don't I really have?" Matte eyeshadow! So I thought I'd give it a try and went to the Bobbi Brown counter. I had the SA try some on my eyes and oh my gosh!! I LOVED it!! I never thought I'd like matte eye shadows. I always thought I needed the shimmer, but it looks awesome! So now I'm all excited to go back and buy more shades. I'll still wear my shiny shadows, but I think I'm going to start wearing alot more matte shades.
Does anyone else have a preference? |

Bobbi Brown has some really nice eye shadows. They do have this look, and it love it's concept but, because I am always told that I have nice eyes, eye make up is only my main focus.
Generally, my skin looks really good so I normally spend money on eye makeup. I use Chanel namebrand only because the make-up artist managed to pull me over to Chanel counter and did my makeup. She did such a great job and I also found out that she is the head make-up artist in Canada for Chanel and realized that she is on Fashion Television a lot.
Due to her excellent work, I stuck with Chanel even though, I do not think it is the best line out there. Stila is really nice and the quality is excellent, but I could never find an excellent makeup artist from Stila who is on the same wave length as myself.
As for the shimmer vs. matt look, you could do both. Right now, the one I am using has shimmer in each four colours. Although, when applied, it does not look like disco makeup.
I also want to add that the older you are, or more wrinkles you have, you should use matt eye shadow.
Now I see her often and we also have a wonderful friendship. |

A matte eyeshadow in a neutral color is my favorite thing for doing a "smoky" eye these days--just use it like you'd use a grey or black shadow. It looks much softer and more romantic.
I like both shimmery and matte shadows, but you just have to find ones that look good on you. I love BE glimmers because they look "wet" rather than sparkly or glittery. I also love Guerlain's shadows for having a more subtle sheen. |

I prefer matte or just a slight shimmer. Favorites are Bobbi Brown, Paula B, and some trios I bought from Borghese. |

Matte always looks classic. |

Me too. Those too shiny ones are not suitable for daily makeup routine. |

I love matte or satin finish. I never use obvious shimmers or frosts. |

I'll usually wear a shimmery shadow on the lid and a darker matte one in the crease and at the outer corners. Pretty much the only time I'll use only mattes is if I'm doing a 50s pinup-look.
I'm a complete makeup whore and have more eyeshadows than anyone would need in their lifetime.
I don't like glittery shadows, but apart from those, I love them all! I do own glittery shadows though, but I'll only ever use them on other people.
MAC and Stila are two of my favorite brands. |
