Hi
I see some of you have tried it now.
Really I'd like to get the EpidermxII because it seems like a lot less hard work, but I've got a BIG order going on with EDS so I might have to resort to it.
Can anyone compare the PSF with the original Epidermx in terms of effort and all that rubbing and balling up business. Is it the same?
Thanks |

Hi, Molly - I've never used the Epidermx product, but I just got my sample of PSF's microdermabrasion product (MicroCrystal Resurfacing Cream) and used it for the first time last night. I really like it!
You apply a little bit (maybe the size of a dime or a nickel) to damp skin and gently rub it over the face in small, circular motions, taking care not to press too hard or rub the product INTO the skin.
You can feel that it is gritty, but the grit is very fine and feels very uniform in shape (vs. those exfoliation creams that use irregular-sized fruit pit pieces that scrape your pores!). Its base is more lotion-like vs. cream-like. It moves over the face quite well and unlike some scrubs where you feel as if you get irregular distribution of the product (meaning lots of cream in one spot and lots of grains in another), this product seems to have a very good grains-to-lotion ratio so by the time you get to the "other end" of your face, you've not run out of grains!
It rinses off very nicely with no residue and when I patted my face dry, I found that the crystals had left it SO smooth and soft! This is not one of those products that you apply in a thin layer almost like a mask and then roll it off your face into little balls (I find those to be a bit messy and kind of gross - dead skin balls on the bathroom floor - ick! ).
Within minutes of putting this on my face, I thought "I'm going to buy the full-sized product." When I was done patting my face dry, I thought "I'm DEFINITELY going to buy the full-sized product!" I think its a keeper.
You can order a sample from PSF's website and to give it a shot before you buy a full-sized product. |

Thanks Mermaidgirl
That's just what I needed to hear. Does sound more like Epidermx II than the original. Isn't that smoothness just gorgeous? I don't get that with any other kind of exfoliant. |

Molly, you're welcome! Yes, the smoothness is really amazing! Its a very fine product (texture-wise) and gives very fine-textured results as well. You might want to give it a try. |

Hi Molly,
I also tried both, and to my surprise i liked the PSF one better.
It's quite a work for me to get the EpidermXII "to ball" (or i just can't get the right mix of water + product, probably i should try to use it on dry face). Mermaid's review is perfect, there is nothing really to add.
The PSF is slightly more drying - then again after Epid. i have a light greasy residue.
Though the result is very similar : both products are non irritating ang leave you with nice smooth skin.
Unfortunately i bough two jars of Epid. before i received the PSF samples... |

Hi Lin, are you referring to the original Epidermx (blue jar) or the new EpidermxII (silver jar, green label)? The new one is not really a "balling" product any more and has no residue at all (the original did have a light residue)... so I am wondering if you are comparing the original to PSF.
I have not tried PSF but I was going to get a tub with my next EDS order - I mean, one HAS to try all the alternatives out there, right? |

Hi Tiger,
oh yes, I'm talking about the new one, EpidermXII. It takes me ages to get the "balls" (and probably therefore i have the residue, after rubbing it for minutes...).
As i mentioned, the result is nice but the PSF one just feels nicer for me. I mean, a matter of everybody's taste. But I'd be curious what you'll say after trying it - pls let me know then.

must try to get the "balling" with it.. I have never done it. Does PSF ball? is it quick? I am lazy beyond belief so that is why I dont bother with more than the 20 seconds..
I mean, I stopped using Dr. H. CC 90% because it took too long to use. |

I also really like this product. In addition to my face, I also use it on the bikini area to exfoliate to minimize ingrown hairs due to waxing. All other exfoliants I have used have irritaded the ingrowns even more with bad results. PSF one is just fantastic, does a great job and does not irritate the skin at all. Love it! (P.S. Using this product in conjunction with PSF Pumking Enzyme Peel has helped me to get rid of those ingrowns almost completely, which I did not think was possible for me! Again, LOVE it!) |

I am currently using the Peach scrub. I would like to try this in my next order. I have sensitive skin and would like to hear reviews before taking the order |

Tiger, if you want to have it fast - then there is no doubt for me : you'll prefer the PSF one (i guess it's a "non-balling" product). |

Now I am confused. I thought EpidermxII was a 10-20 second treatment with no balling up involved. Anyway I just want smooth skin, no balls so I think I'll get the PSF - seems like it does the job. I'll try the Epi II another day. Thanks all. |

Tiger, I've used "balling" exfoliators before as well as the PSF microcrystal resurfacing product. The PSF product does NOT ball up, and works faster IMO because you don't have to apply, wait for it to dry a bit, and then start rubbing your skin to get the product to ball up. I have yet to use a balling product that didn't leave a residue - the PSF one rinses really clean. Plus, the balling action can be a bit sketchy to achieve - I've found you have to use the right amount of product for that, too little = no balls.
Why don't you try a sample of PSF's product? I think you'd love it! |
