Thanks,

I think that the "best" product depends on your skin type. It's recommended that you start slowly and work your way up to the more potent products. Most people start with CP serum with Exfol serum (oily, acne prone, or combination skin) or CP cream with Exfol cream(dry skin). You can get samples at the Dianayvonne website to see what works best for you.
I'm sure that Scalawag Girl and others who have more experience will chime in too. |

I agree with Priscilla. Start with the plain CP serum or the P&R classic (it's cream based), but I'd add that if you want to layer more on top of the CPs the serum would be better. |

I am curious about the exfol serum. I use the mandelic acid in the morning, and copper at night. At what time would I use the exfol serum, and do you know if there is much difference in the two?
And Molly, you are right, the mandelic does give a nice peachy sheen to your skin. I am very pleased with it so far. Thanks for your review. |

I think the general rule is that you apply the lowest pH product first and then work your way up. Exfol serum is pH 3.2 i, and the Vivant Mandelic acid is pH 2.5 so optimally you would put the mandelic acid
wait 30 minutes
apply the exfol serum
wait 30 minutes
apply other products that are higher pH
Since 2% salicylic acid is usually pH 1.9, you would apply it before the mandelic. I've heard of people applying 2% salicyclic acid as a toner and then immediately applying the mandelic acid to cut down wait times, with the rationale that the pHs of the two products are close to each other. I don't know if the same logic would apply to mandelic (pH 2.5) and exfol serum (pH 3.2). The pH difference is comparable (3.2-2.5 = 0.7 versus 2.5-1.9 = 0.6), but mandelic and salicylic are both in aqueous alcohol vehicles and exfol serum is more of a gel product. Can someone more experienced in the layering of skincare products opine? |

You can apply the exfol first then the mandelic - no wait time. Like Priscilla says their PH are very close. Scalawaggirl got her info from the SCB and she does that, calls it 'biphasic' or something and I do it occasionally too (if I have any clogged pores on my nose). They're very effective used in combo.
Razinkane - The exfol scours the inside of the pores, but doesn't do much for exfoliating the upper layers of the skin. The mandelic closes those pores and does the AHA thing eliminating dead surface cells - so in combo they cleanse then close the pores which is very pretty and you have some decent surface exfoliation too. Plus using the MA 15% daily will stimulate collagen production which 2% salicylic won't.
I agree Razinkane, the mandelic is the only AHA I ever used that leaves you with a peachy tone like this that's one of my favourite things about it. |

If you are using copper peptides after a peel, I would use the regular CP; I use Super CP daily, but still use regular CP after I've done a peel. |

ah, there you are Molly. I had been wondering where you'd been. I didn't know mandelic acid stimulated collagen. What an added bonus.
I guess I am on my way to order the exfol. I have one more silly question. Do you use the exfol everyday, and do you find if drying? (sorry, that was two) Thanks alot...again |

Hello Raz - I'm glad I was missed I don't think you'll find the exfol drying if you can already use the Mandelic daily without a problem. I use the cream based exfol anyway and don't use it every day, but a few days in a row doesn't seem to cause any dryness for me but then my skin's feeling well balanced these days for some reason. A lot of people do use it daily.
BTW, I won't have an internet connection for a few days. I'm being cut off in one and a half hours and the thought of not being connected fills me with horror bye bye |

We're going to go in withdrawels here, (and you'll probably have a ton of questions when you get back).

Hey all! I do a biphasic but with BHA 2% or 5% then Mandelic. From what I've read, there is a wait time after Exfol due to it's higher Ph and to get all of the exfoliation benefits. In other words, the lowest Ph is applied first. Since Exfol is 3.2, it "logically" would go after mandelic at 2.5. However, the kicker is also that AHAs go AFTER BHAs so it would be Exfol - wait 30 minutes, then mandelic - wait 30 minutes. I use Exfol Serum but under my eyes, around lips and on my neck. This is applied at the same time as my BHA/Mandelic so I knock out all wait times at once. The 2% BHA is stronger than Exfol Serum due to lower Ph so I'd recommend substituting that OR staggering Exfol Serum use (at night or switch days, for example) to save wait times.
BHA (from Platinum Skincare via Diana Yvonne) is 1.9, as noted, and a tiny bit of its effectiveness is diluted when the mandelic (mainly AHA) is applied (but very minimally) and it's still a strong 1-2 punch that's not recommended for anything other than tough, oily skin (IMO). In fact, when I was in Montréal, I had to forego everything but occasional mandelic because the temp/air was so drying to my skin! That said, I do very much like Exfol for my eyes and elsewhere. It is very mild.
I'm now also up to using full-strength CP Serum (wow, I'm all grown up) and, even now, feel a tiny sting after I apply it so for sure take it slowly. It is a great product, though - very healing and perfect for starting off w/CPs. |

I always wondered if I should have started out diluting the cps first. I never did. I use about a drop a section, so about four drops. Someday I'll up it. |
