Is there any other product I should be using with MaMa to make it more effective? A certain moisturizer? Vit. C serum? Retinol? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. |

Nijey what do you mean by making it more effective? Do you want to know what else you should by using in a comprehensive anti-aging routine or are you asking something else entirely? TIA |

Urk--I guess my question was confusing and on second thought, really more like two questions. So...
1. Since it's getting colder and drier now, I know I'll be needing a moisturizer. Is there anything I should avoid whilst using MaMa? Like, are there certain ingredients that will interact with it negatively?
2. Can I use other actives in conjunction with MaMa? Like Vitamin C, retinol, BHAs, etc.?
TIA! |

1. A few of the things that I can think of are alkaline products like DMAE. I don't think that you would need to avoid alkaline products but you certainly would want to wait the 30 min. for the acid to neutralize before you applied them. There also might be issues with Copper Peptides and wait times but I will let one of our CP experts tackle that one. Also keep in mind that if you apply any moisturizer too soon after the MaMa you are neutralizing it and stopping the exfoliation.
2.All those mentioned would be fine as long as your skin can tolerate using all the actives and you don't experience any irritation. Since MaMa has mandelic acid you may not need to use BHAs also since the mandelic acid is able to exfoliate within the pores like BHAs but some do use both. I would not have specific advice for wait times and application order between BHAs, Vitamin C or retinol and MaMa. I always used the MaMa in the morning and would wait a half an hour, rinse and then apply my vitamin C. It seems that there are ingredients in the MaMa lotion that would keep any actives you apply over it from absorbing so I always rinsed it off first.
Well hopefull you got something out of that. It still leaves alot unanswered but I am sure that other members will have alot to add! |

Has anyone used MaMa *instead of* retinol product? I was thinking of trying MaMa for while instead of Green Cream. |

Thanks for the tips, TheresaL--I did not know that mandelic acid could act like a BHA to clean out pores. I have pretty tough skin (acids and retinols don't really bother me at all--I never have sensitivity issues) but it's probably a good idea to use fewer products than more.
And thanks for reminding me about the wait time for the MaMa--I read the instructions that came with it but somehow it hasn't quite sunk in yet |
