Okay - this weekend I remembered the one movie that scared me so bad I couldn't even watch it as an adult.
I think it's from the 70's. A couple moves into a house and there are small creatures living in the walls and basement. I remember how they would part the books and watch the woman ... with a super scary "chattering".
At the end, they lassoed her leg and dragged her downstairs and "changed her".
Any movie with scary sound effects and voices scare me.
Told hubby about it and he's going to pay when I have nightmares. He started making the chattering noises AND the 'uhhhhh' noise from The Grudge.. |

OMG ... this is absoluting AMAZING!
So, I've been searching for this movie with every keyword I can think of. (and I did this same search last year too).
Never find it, but no big deal because I honestly am so freaked when I think about this movie.
Anyway, just now I typed "find horror movie" and got this site The Internet Movie Critic - Find That Horror Film!
So, I click there and it recommends "Before submitting a request, Please read the Top 10 Found Page!"
Guess what's the #1 movie???? MY MOVIE!!! It's called "Don't be afraid of the dark"

in the mid 70's about a woman in a large house, where there are these little creatures that you can see behind the stairs. You can hear them whispering to one another. You can't always make out what they are saying. It's really eerie.
Every time the lights go out these little creatures come out and begin trying to harm her. One scene has the woman taking a shower and the lights go out. The little creatures come out of a closet and try to get her. In the end of the movie they get her and drag her to the basement.

I LOVE scary movies and The Grudge was good, although not sure which version I like better (Jap or American). I totally made those noises after my BF watched it in the theatres with me just to freak him out. Oh and did I mention he works graveyars shifts? |

That noise from "The Grudge" still terrifies me. I hate it! Kept thinking I could hear it for a couple of nights after seeing the film. It really sent my imagination into overdrive. |

I can't take horror movies-except maybe the old Abbott & Costello ones..
My 15-year-old watches & sends me out of the room armed with Disney DVD's. |

I preferred the American version, of The Ring too. I'm wondering if maybe not having to read subtitles, I was able to "get into the film" more?

If he were my brother I'd call him at work and make the noise! My brother used to hide down the hallway and scare me ... that's explains a lot about me |

I hated The Ring, I literally fell asleep watching it (the Jap version) and this was 7-8 years ago when The Ring just came out in Japan and it was the hype of the day. I much prefer Grudge. I remember when I was a little kid my fav was the Leprechaun series but when I think back they're just a lot of blood and gore. |

you just reminded me of something else that happened to me as a child....
One night when I was about 11 I went to bed, said my prayers, turned out the lights and snuggled in. Then I felt something odd...the pillow beneath my head was sliding out from under my head... towards the crack between the mattress and the headboard of my bed. I punched it up a bit and snuggled down again. Once again I felt the pillow pulling out from under my head...slowly and gradually falling down behind the mattress. This time I lifted my head up completely. The pillow went ZIP! down the crack behind the mattress to the floor.
Being the mature, reasonable girl that I was, I climbed out of bed and walked across to my dresser. Turned on the light. Returned to the bed, kneeled down and looked under my bed....there was my big brother stretched out under my bed with my pillow in his hand! I screamed!! (He cackled...) Big brothers!!!

About the scary movie "Don't be afraid of the dark." Did the voices sometimes come out of the fireplace grate??? I have memories of a very freaky movie where there were voices and some creatures hiding in the fireplace--this may have been the same movie. |

Ahhhh ... big brothers = a moment of laughter, a lifetime of therapy. I would've been screaming WAY before you did.

YES, YES! That's the one ... "Saaaally, Saaaally!! We want you, We want you!! Let's get Sally".
Do you remember the 'shower scene' and the little creatures pleading?
"Don't hurt her...not yet."
"I want to."
"Wait until tomorrow."
"Let me just scare her."
"Alright, then scare her!" |
