Who would have thought a desperate “what the hell do I do with my nails?” inquiry to Carekate would lead to finding not one, but THREE holy grail products? But as luck would have it, Carrie was kind enough to share her latest creations with me…one to help my scary-looking nails and cuticles, and two other cosmetic items. I was so impressed I asked her permission to tell everyone about them. Some of you may have already had the chance to try these things out…but if not, I highly recommend that you do. Okay…on with the (admittedly long) rave!
Dr. Holland’s Lemon Cuticle Balm – As I mentioned above, I wrote to Carrie asking for advice with regards to my nails. I wanted to try leaving off nail polish on my fingers and just buffing them instead, and I’d remembered reading in some post that Carrie kept her nails buffed and was happy with that look. So, along with some great tips on getting my nails in shape, she sent me a sample of her cuticle balm. Aside from the fact that it smells just like a yummy lemon meringue pie, it has totally transformed my nails & cuticles! My nails are healthier and stronger than they’ve ever been, and my cuticles are in fabulous shape (instead of looking raggedy like they used to!!). Once my sample runs out, I will definitely purchase this again and again!
Dr. Holland’s Silk Dust Powder - Like a lot of you, I adore the Jurlique rose dust powder…smells great, and works wonders with oil control. Well, I’m here to tell you that Carrie’s silk dust powder is every bit as good as the Jurlique…and much less expensive, to boot (after trying the sample she sent me, I promptly wrote her and asked that she sell me a jar!)! While Carrie can scent the silk dust with any number of EO’s, the one she sent me was a delightful citrus-y aroma, and I like it even better than the rose scent of the Jurlique. I tend to be a fan of light,
citrus-y scents and this one smells wonderfully fresh and clean. Aside from the fabulous scent, it keeps my shiny-face under control like nobody’s business. I put a little under my makeup and a smidge on top to set it…and even with our hot weather, I can usually go most of the day without a touchup. Wonderful product, great price…can’t recommend this highly enough!
Dr. Holland’s Lush Lips Balm - First off, I have to say that I absolutely love the scent and taste of this product. I would describe it as a vanilla/cinnamon mix, but whatever it is, I can’t get enough of it…very subtle, yet sweet aroma and flavor. I also really like the texture and consistency of the balm…very light, perhaps even a bit lighter than my beloved Prada balms. This isn’t a bad thing, particularly when it comes to the Hubby Smooch Test. Until I tried the LL product, the only tinted balm my husband didn’t immediately wipe off (or hesitate to kiss me when wearing it) was the Prada. I kissed him several times wearing the LL balm, and he was totally fine…acted like I was wearing no lip stuff whatsoever, which is ideal! I also found it very moisturizing, and my lips do feel nice and soft when I have it on. The color Carrie sent is a great everyday shade for me…a nice, rosy color that goes with everything. She is working on other colors, and I can’t wait to try them out! I am not sure if/when she plans to sell these balms, but I will be first in line to buy them when the time comes. They look, feel and taste great…what more could you want in a lip product?
So…excuse my long-winded rave, but I really wanted to share my thoughts on these incredibly well-made products!

Thanks for the great review, Mary H. I would love to purchase the cuticle cream - I didn't know Carekate was already selling them - I know she had talked about it in some posts. Is that the case and if so, I wonder how to order. |

To the best of my knowledge, Carrie doesn't have a website you go to make purchases (Carrie, please correct me if I'm wrong on this!). When I bought the silk dust, I just sent her a message and asked "How much?" and she told me, and I took care of it via PayPal. Easy! So, if you were interested in buying anything from her, I would send her a PM and ask what she might charge you and go from there!
Hope this helps!

Does this silk powder have actual silk in it too?? --Sorry if that question sounded lame. I've just noticed some companies use the word silk to describe the texture too. I currently have a real silk powder, but I'm not pleased with the texture of it.
Thanks! |

Hi Moozie!
Wish I could answer this question, but I have no idea! Hopefully Carrie will read this and give us the scoop!

Hi Mary!
Thank you for the warm welcome! It would be interesting if this product is real silk powder...if so, I may have to test it out! The one I have is smooth for the most part, but has some "grains" in it..."handmade" product by Mineral Basics was the only one I could find while researching.

Yes, she posted her recipe of it on the DIY link. I can't wait to get the ingredients and try it for myself!

Ellyp, thanks so much for answering Ranae's question! I wish I was able to do the more complex DIY recipes, but I posess neither the skill nor the patience. So, needless to say, I'm more than happy to purchase products from DIY queens like Carrie and Candy!

Thanks for starting this thread! I did not know Carekate sold her products. I am always eyeing her recipes but just don't have the skills to do it.
Do you know if she ships overseas? |

To everyone who has PM’d me with order requests: please be patient with me regarding responses as I only get 30 minutes per day internet usage from work so I will get back with you as soon as I can.
Thank you for your interest and support!
(hey, maybe if I sell enough jars of Silk Dust I’ll be able to buy a computer to use at home!!) |

Linda, that's a great idea! You're right that she doesn't overcharge at all, so even with a little extra $$ added, her products are still a bargain! I've seen some pretty decent Dell desktop units (the whole setup) for just a few hundred bucks. SO...it may not take that many jars of silk dust after all to get that home computer in the not-too-distant future!

I hope this is okay to do – if I’ve violated the forum rules, please let me know or feel free to censor this post....
Several ladies have contacted me, asking what homemade products I make that are available for custom purchase. I’m sure it would be a violation for me to post a product list here so let it suffice to say that – basically – if I have posted a recipe for it in the DIY Recipes sticky thread, it is something that I can make for CP upon request so just take a look at the DIY Recipes index for any recipe submitted by CareKate and then PM me to submit a request.
Here’s the link: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=11902&sid=b13d2772c07b2279ae156a9a17d15cbd
Again, I appreciate everyone’s support on this and here’s hoping that my homemade stuff lives up to everyone’s expectations! ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

I'm so excited about this. I just used Carekate's Lavendar Silk Dust Powder and I am soooooooooo happy with it. Usually by mid morning my skin becomes oily and I'll have to blot or reapply more powder. Not today. I followed Carekate's method of applying the silk dust powder first (after applying a primer) than applying Alima MMU and finally apply the silk dust powder to set it.
Geez! I'm constantly looking in the mirror to make sure that it's actually my skin. I definitely recommend this, you will not be disappointed. I LOVE IT!
Carekate included a sample of the lip balm. At first when I opened it, I thought it might be too dark for me but once I applied it, the color is very beautiful. It looks burgundy but on my lips, looks rosey. When applying the lip balm, it made my lips feel soft and moisturized. I will be throwing away my other tons of lip balm because I definitely found a keeper. She has other colors too.
I also received a sample of the lip scrub (I will be trying that tonight) and also a mask, can't wait to try that.
Carekate's product just totally made my day. My skin & lips are feeling pretty today. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

OMG .. so glad this Post is live again.
As a matter 'o fact - yesterday I was looking at Carekate's recipe for the silk dust and thought ... no way can I make this. 3 ingredients is about it but my cooking talents.
Didn't know she would consider selling some of her stock
... running off to make a list.... ![Wink](images/smiles/wink.gif) |

Yeah, my hubby is always teasing me because it's really common to hear "uh oh" or "oops" coming from the kitchen.
I tried making Carekate's Lash Gloss a couple of weeks ago ... DH was just laughing and laughing "you're going to do WHAT?" |
