Hi all,

For everyone who knows that I'm a die-hard Yonka Paris fan, I promised to post a cleanser comparison online so here I am.

For all of you that know me, I am committed to the Yonka Gel Nettoyant. It smells superb, feels ultra light (not even like a gel cleanser), and leaves your skin feeling clean (but not squeeky and dry).

As for the Lait Nettoyant Cleansing Milk, it smells a bit more medicinal to me than the other two cleansers (gel & nettoyant cleansing creme). This cleanser is for all skin types, but again, I don't like the smell as much as I like the gel cleanser (this is likely a personal preference). The Cleansing Milk is very very VERY smooth (feels a bit like milk actually, hence the name) and it washes off very clearly and your skin does not feel dry. It doesn't lather as well as the gel cleanser, but it definitely feels good on the skin (very smooth and silky).

As for the sensitive skin cleanser (the Nettoyant Cleansing Creme), it has a more minty scent to it -- and I love it for use in the morning when I'm not quite "awake" yet. The minty feeling doesn't last long on your face, though (I wish it would) but the smell really helps to wake you up (it's very fresh and pepperminty). The Cleansing Creme is for sensitive skins so it's a bit more moisture-intense (at least it seems that way to me). The texture is the thickest of all three cleansers (and the product is the most expensive out of all three, because it only comes in a 100mL bottle; the other two come in 200 mL bottles). I don't think I would buy another Cleansing Creme after I finish the one I have because I don't like the thick texture. After you wash it off, you feel a wee bit oily. Not "greasy" oily but just that there's an extra "something" on your skin (probably to protect sensitive skin types). The Cleansing Creme feels almost like a moisturizer when you lather it on your face (if that helps to illustrate the texture).

Overall, my favorite is still the gel cleanser because 1) it smells the best; 2) it lathers a lot better and therefore, you don't have to use as much each time you wash your face; 3) it leaves the cleanest feeling on my skin.

My second choice would be the Lait Nettoyant since it's not as "thick" as the Cleansing Creme. But remember, I have oily skin so I like things to be very "thin" and "effective." If you have sensitive skin, the Cleansing Creme might be IDEAL for you.

Lastly, don't forget to mist with the Yonka Lotion. I love this stuff. I actually love my Sea Breeze astringent still but it has a wee bit of alcohol in it -- but it is really good at removing dirty and such. The Yonka Lotion (more of a spray, not really a "moisturizer" or anything) refreshens your skin (I use it on the airplane when my skin feels dry) and it smells awesome.

I also use the Pamplemousse, Creme 15, and Phyto 58 for anyone who has questions. I am a definite Yonka Paris fan, so feel free to ask questions. I would love to help.

Hope this review helps those who are contemplating which cleanser to try in the Yonka line. I love the line so much I bought all three to try -- but I have definitely found my favorite (though the others are fabulous, too -- just have to see which product works best with your skin).

I would advise to purchase the cleanser best suited for your skin type and then ask EDS to send samples of the other two so you can experiment (without having to buy full products). On the other hand, it doesn't take much effort to use Yonka face washes so if you have the resources, buy the actual products and compare the results over time! Very Happy

Thanks for yet another fantastic review Lisa! I really enjoyed reading this and I'm now 100% sure that

(a) I will be buying the Gel Nettoyant and
(b) I will be asking for a sample of the Nettoyant Cleansing Creme (I love all things which leave a minty feeling!).

Hi Mabsy,

I LOVE stuff that has a minty cool feeling, too, but FYI, the yonka cleansing creme doesn't have THAT much of a minty feeling. It's not as strong as, say, the Clinique Exfoliator. I've been using the Peter Thomas Roth Eucalyptus mask and that is really minty (though it dries out your skin a little too much). You can also try the Algoderm mask by Phytobiodermie (that is THE BEST minty feeling ever -- it lasts a LONG time -- even after you wash it off!).

I just got some Yonka samples that I can't wait to try out: Nettoyant creme cleanser for sensitive skin, creme 83, and creme 15. I was wondering if Creme 15 has Benzoyl Peroxide in it? I am allergic to it. I only got a sample so there are no ingredients listed. Thanks

I don't have this creme (though I tried the 83 and it's nice; nothing too special but nice) but I found the following on the net about Creme 15:

Active ingredients: burdock, sage, milfoil, yarrow, St John's wort and birch among others.

The 'among others' doesn't fill me with confidence but since YonKa specialises in products from plants then I'm guessing BP shouldn't be in there (I wasn't exactly top in my chemistry class so forgive me if I just said something really silly!). Best wait for confirmation from knowledgeable YonKa people (such as our resident 'YonKa girl' Lisa for example Smile

).

Thanks Mabsy, your so helpful! I didn't think it had BP in it, but it seems a lot of companies use it to treat blemishes: PTR, DDF, Proactive, etc...

Hi there,

I actually use the Creme 15 daily but can't really tell you if it contain BP. I threw away the container and the insert so I can't even read what's in it! Perhaps the best way is to ask Casper's Mum so that you don't have an allergic reaction! Sorry I couldn't be of more help. If it doesn't contain BP, then use it -- it's a GREAT creme!

You can use it AM and PM -- I use it for AM underneath my foundation (Bare Escentuals). I use the Pamplemousse moisturizer at night Smile

Hey Lisa

After I read your review of the minty Dermalogica cleanser it reminded me that I asked for a sample of the Nettoyant Creme when I bought the cleansing gel (because of this very review Smile

). I decided to use it tonight and I have to tell you that your description of it was spot on! I actually quite like it but, like you, I prefer the gel. The creme didn't make my skin feel oily but it did feel like it had a layer of something on it (in a good way though, not in an icky way Smile

). Like you said, it IS for sensitive skins so that would explain that. It smells nice and minty but it didn't really feel very minty on the skin. Overall it's nice but the gel version is more suitable for my skin.

Hi Mabsy,

I have tried the Yonka cleansing gel from EDS, smells wonderful and i like it very much. My friend is also using this cleansing gel, she let me tried hers, but it smells totally different from the sample that i tried, more geranium smell and it smell horrible.

So did you purchase your cleansing gel recently, cos i am interested to get one from EDS too, but am afriad that the cleansing gel formula may have been change and i won't get the nice smell anymore. Anyone else bought the cleanising gel recently?

Hi Skinlover,

I have no idea why your friend's product doesn't smell the same. I bought mine about a month ago and it smells the same. I would ask EDS about it but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't randomly change the smell on their consumers like that. Are you sure it was the gel you were trying or the other creme cleanser (which has a different, weird smell to it)? It's also blue, so maybe it was a bit of confusion?

In any case, definitely ask EDS about it but I'm pretty sure if you buy it now you'll get the same nice smell Smile

Hi Lisa,

I have checked with Magda, according to her, the sample size is in some quantity, so there will be a slight different in the smell for the retail bottle. Did you try the sample too, smell the same?

I remember the sample one has a smell that remind me of lemongrass, ok, i know it doesn't contain any lemongrass extract, but it smell something like lemongrass. The one that my friend has has a very choking smell of geranium. It is totally different from the sample on that i have tried. Now i can abit confuse, don't know if i should order the gel from EDS, am afriad that i will get the one that smell the same as my firend's. You see, i am very sensitive to smell and i usually buy products because of their scents.

I actually never had a sample of the gel, I just bought it on Lisa's rec. But I am sitting here in front of the computer sniffing it out of the bottle and to me it has a slight geranium smell to it like you said. I don't think that it's a strong geranium smell, though if you are sensitive to it then it could be strong to you. I have no problem with that though 'coz I like geranium Very Happy

Thanks for helping.... haha maybe it could be the packaging then or i am extremely sensitive to the smell..... cos my friend bought hers in a special 300ml size cost at approx. US$32. Singapore dollars $55. Think i will order one from EDS and try.

Hi, I've been compelled to try the Yonka products from all the great reviews it gets! I'm unsure which cleanser to go for though as I would ussualy prefer a milky or cream cleanser as Ihave normal/sometimes dry skin but you all made the gel cleanser sound sooo good! Is the gel at all drying? I've tryed Dermalogica's special cleansing gel and wasn't won over by the gel formula so would Yonka gel be similar?

I have normal to combo skin (depending on season) and I have not found the gel drying. But that's just my experience and it could be different for you. In terms of the texture, I'm not sure what the Dermalogica gel cleanser is like but the YonKa one is a rather watery type of gel - so not a gel in the "normal" sense.

Yipee!

Another Yonka "junkie". I love, love, love this line. I currently use the PG Creme, Creme 15 and Juvenil. I mix both cremes with the Juvenil. Depending on my skin, if I have some minor blemishes I usually use the PG Creme both am and pm. I'm wanting to try their toner next. I have the delux sample of the gel cleanser that hopefully I will be using by this weekend. Very Happy

(trying to use up my Dermalogica Dermal Cleansing Clay). Since my skin is starting to become less oily I'm hoping this is what I've been looking for. Have you ever tried any of their eye products? Still debating on what to get. Great review by the way. Smile

Well, thoughtcrime you are in luck, I happen to still have my insert from my Creme 15 I just bought. Smile

Here's the ingredients list:

Key Ingredients:
Plant extracts 5% burdock, sage, milfoil, horsetail, St. John's Wort, Coltsfoot. Essential oils of lavender, lime, rosemary, geranium, thyme, cypress. Cereal germ oil. Emulsion oil in water.

It doesn't list BP and I haven't noticed any whitening of my pillows on my bed like I did with other products that had BP in it. hths

Chunlisa-Sorry I know I'm entering this discussion a little late but, I was just wondering what you thought of the pamplemousse. Do you find a noticeable difference in your skin after using it?
Btw-what are your thoughts on the gommage? Personally, I find it difficult to remove and I end up furiously rubbing my skin (which can't be good).

I just had a Yonka facial yetersday. I had much needed extractions and left with a deep cleansed face, some samples and a lighter wallet.

I did receive some samples of the gel cleanser and also phyto 54 anti-redness cream. I really want to try the anti-redness cream.

Any feedback on any of the Yonka masks or the anti-redness cream? I will be trying the anti-redness cream although it is the type of product that really takes a while to see results.

While I enjoyed my facial when I got home I realized that I could have purchased some high end skin care for the money spent! Oh well I will really think the next time I want to book a facial.

Autumn-I have tried the Masque for combination skin and I really like it. It tingles when you have it on and once removed, it made my skin feel very soft. I didn't use it long enough to see any results in terms of blackheads or pimples though, (it was just a sample size).
I really love the gel cleanser too-it's the best feeling (and smell) ever!
I've never tried the anti-redness creme. Is it designed for redness from acne and uneven skin tone, or is it aimed more for individuals with more serious skin conditions?

Let me know how it works-I may have to get a sample of it soon..

That does it, I've heard too many wonderful things about Yonka products.

I am going to schedule a facial next month (after I recover financially from the holiday shopping) so I can try out the Yonka products without purchasing. Okay, I'll try not to buy! Wink

BUT I know I can return it or get away with just getting samples because I DO have sensitive skin. I usually tell them that I don't want to purchase and then waste a full-size container of a product if I react because that will mean one less product they can sell to a potential customer.

I found a day spa here in S.F. that uses and sells almost all the Yonka products. Except Juvenil Mad

. They have their own in-house brand that they claim is better than Juvenil.

Kel - I have found the gommage a bit difficult to remove as well. In the end there's a fair bit of it left on my face (I don't want to rub too hard!) and I just end up washing it off. Phytomer has a very similar product (Phytomer Gommage Marin) and it has little scrubby granules in it. They are quite gentle but are enough to help remove the stuff off your face. After trying the YonKa gommage and the Decleor, I like the Phytomer one the most.
