gar. My skin, as I've said before, dislikes the change in climate from super humid Missouri, to very sunny, dry California. I've gotten a slew of zits lately, which is getting better with the help of some DIY stuff I've been tinkering around with.
Reagrdless, I've got a zit RIGHT under my right nostril. At first, I said, "Oh my little bump, what a big zit you'll be. I'll have my tea tree oil ready for you when you grow up."
Alas, the zit won't come out from underneath the skin. I've tried putting tea tree oil on the bump anyway, but it hasn't worked.
What can I do? |

How long has it been there? If it's deep underneath the skin, it may never surface. Cystic acne I believe is what it's called. Due to their nature, they take a while to go away because the 'waste' can't be discharged like reg pimples. Does it hurt when you touch it? My b/f's got on right on his right cheek, been there for like 2 weeks now, it's just red because it's inflammed and on the surface it doesn't look big, but when touched you can tell how big it really is underneath the skin.
If it doesn't go away in week or so you may want to see a dermatologist. |

I use 5% salicilyc acid toner from Dyanne Yvonne. It either brings it to the surface or makes it disappear. Still takes a few days.

I recently had a huge cystic pimple on my chin - very ugly and very painful
I used hot compresses on it several times a day - just a clean washcloth rinsed in hot water - and tea tree oil. After about a day and a half, it started to get better and gradually went away completely.

i hate those. they hurt like a *beep* and take forever to go away. i think my cousin used to go to the derm and would get a shot for it and it'd go away. that's what she said. |

I had one of those underground, cystic zits on my cheek - it was a monster! I went to the dermo and he gave me a shot of cortisone. The danged thing was so big and hard that you could hear a "pop" when the needle punctured it! Ewwww! It also was a bit painful getting a big needle stuck right in the darned thing, but I will tell you this ... it was practically gone the next day and by the end of the week, it was but a memory! |

I'd try (1) exfoliation (gentle! no scrubs) w/pumpkin enzyme, or salycylic acid or 10% lactic/mandelic, then warm-water compresses, followed by your tea tree oil or some crushed aspirin/water mush (leave on at night); if nothing changes in a day or three, (2) see your derm for a cortisone shot. |

When I had one way back can't remember exactly when, but I had a thought, never went through with it though. Would it be wrong to take a really thin needle, disinfect it first burning it over a lighter and then alcohol and poke it in the skin to have a tunnel to make way for the waste to drain?
I'll probably be stoned for asking such a ridiculous question |

well, the needle was my first reaction, but the bump feels...hard. and it's painful when i touch it, so I'm worried about the pain with a needle and what if i miss and poke a hole in my nose? Free nose piercing?
If i exfoliate with a washcloth and use some of the Amlactin I have with tea tree oil, would that work? Amlactin has lactic acid...and that's exfoliating? |

Ari - I like your idea but wouldn't you be scared of the pain and potential scarring?
I've had a (I guess) cystic zit on my chin for over a week. The first few days I kept Astara sea mineral mask on it constantly and Kate Somerville's Blemish Be Gone (same thing as Mario Badescu's drying lotion). One of the benefits of not working is the ability to paint my face in various products all day.
Well, a week later it's not so red, doesn't hurt but it's still a massive bump.
I just got Carekate's EP emulsion so I have a tissue and bandaid on my face for the next 12 hours ... |

Hi Angyl,
My son uses Ice Elements products... I am not sure of all of what you are using, but you may be able to get rid of that bump with the acne serum and 2 minute miracle exfoliation gel.
If you do not want to go that route... perhaps daily aspirin masks with tea tree and some gentle exfoliation 3 times a week.
Good luck!

I had a cystic zit on my chin last week. I was mortified because I haven't gotten one that big in years. So, naturally, I couldn't leave it alone. I did a hot compress at night for at least ten minutes then coated it with proactiv repairing lotion and topical hydrosortisone. After a couple days of this, it eventually did its thing, and I could, you know, extract safely (no needles!). But it still looked like a bump and it was red. I bought Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask and used it two night in a row, just for 20 minutes on the infected area, and now it's greatly healed. I still have the discoloration, of course, but it's pretty much gone. I really think the Mint Julep mask dried it up. I didn't realize it had sulfur in it when I bought it.
But, SURPRISINGLY, the Mint Julep mask has NO ACTUAL MINT!!!!

Not sure if this will help but I had one like this on my back and I applied Valmont Dermatosic Serum twice a day for a week and it disappeared. |

Carries Emulsion Pure, for sure. Lacking that, the Yonka Emulsion Pure would be my choice. |
