Just had to post brief review of Skinceuticals Renew Overnight. I've only been using it for a couple of weeks now, but I'm very pleased with it. The cream comes in a jar and is light and absorbs quickly. I was worried that it would be too harsh, since I am using it with Skinceuticals serum 15...and live above 8000 feet: close (too close!) to the sun. The Renew has exfoliating ingredients, which is why I was worried. However, it hasn't been too harsh at all. I've been using it 2 or 3 times a week, and I really think that it is going to be an effective complement to the serum ( the exfoliation ingredients help the serum absorb better) ...I don't know if I'm imagining it but it seems that the serum's results are already showing up a bit, and before (without the Renew) it took a while for me to really notice an improvement. Woo Hoo! |

I have thin and sensitive asian skin, do you think SkinCeuticals Renew is suitable for my skin type? I have some freckles on my cheeks and now using Cellex C 10% serum and noticing some results but slowly, do you think adding SkinCeutials Renew into my routine will speed up the result? Thanks for any of your opnions. |

Hi angela! I think that SkinCeuticals Renew might be suitable for your skin type. I have slightly sensitive skin and it hasn't been too strong for me. For me, it has sped up the visible change of the vit-c serum. I've just been using it for a few weeks now, and I do feel like I see a difference, and before when I just used the serum it seemed to take a lot longer. I would suggest emailing EDS and requesting a sample - if one is available. That way you could try it a few times and test whether or not your skin can handle it. One note: don't panic if your skin does feel slightly irritated the first time you try it and use the serum after. Just like it took my skin a day or two to adjust to the serum after a long break from it, it also took a try to adjust to using it with the Renew. But don't keep trying if it is irritating you, of course. I really do recommend a sample if one is available. |

Hello Zazu,
It sounds like the Skinceuticals Renew is the right night time treatment product if you're using the Vit C system during the day. It makes sense to have something to exfoliate the cells to help the Vit-C serum work at it's best. I think the aloe, chamomile, evening primrose and comfrey in it would make it a soothing, and gentle cream as well... is it a little cooling to use with the comfrey in it? I think I read in another thread that Mabsy likened comfrey to something minty...
I've been gathering info on Vit-C for a while as I'm thinking of using it in winter (we're getting to the end of summer here in Oz now, sad to say! ) so I have one good thing to look forward to !!
Also Zazu! I was wondering what you use for your daily moisturizer atop the Vit-C and Hydrating B5 Gel ? I looked for your skincare 'regime' on the thread that Alohagirl started re Skin Type and Fav Products but yours wasn't there. I thought that was such an excellent thread.

Hi Summertime girl -- Yes, it is really just the right thing. And you are right, the ingredients you mentioned really soften the effect of the exfoliating ingredients - I think that's why it's just the right cream for me. It is not minty, however. Very fresh but plain smelling.
I am actually on the hunt for a good daytime moisturizer ... I just ordered a Phytomer moisturizer but would love to discover the ultimately fabuloso moisturizer with sunblock.
I am so glad that alohagirl started that terrific thread too! I suggested that someone start one and I was so happy that she did!! What a sassy girlie. I haven't added my info to the thread because I'm in such transition now, but I think I'm close to being able to report on my new system.

Hi Zazu,
I can't say I can recommend a great day time moisturiser with sunblock, the ones I've used in the past with built-in SPF are Clarins Hydration Plus Moisture Lotion SPF15 and Shiseido Benefiance Daytime Protective Cream SPF8. I find that moisturisers with built in SPF tend to leave my skin oily by the end of the day and I always had to blot with oil blotting paper. I guess it's the formulation, not even my dry skin likes drinking it up.... the one moisturiser with built-in SPF (not sunblock) that has been out for some time but I've not had a chance to try is Olay's Total Effects SPF15 from supermarkets and drug stores. It's active ingredients are: 4.0% Octisalate, 2.0% Avobenzone, 1.0% Ensulizole, 1.0% Octocrylene. I've only tried the original which didn't have the SPF in it, and that did an OK job at moisturising but wasn't fabuloso.
Since my SPF 30 sunblock is so sheer, I don't think I could ever go back to the two-in-one product, there's no need to ! I love the way the Skinceuticals Ultimate UV Defense SPF 30 goes over the top of my Phytomer day moisturiser.
I'm glad that the new Vit-C regime is going well for you and I can't wait to hear your report on it. It sounds like you and Myrna have both really benefitted from the Vit-C (and E!) systems! Watch out though Zazu, you might have a tough time staving off admirers too !! Feedback like that gets me inspired and I'm really looking forward to trying it out.

thanks Zazu! I will request a sample to try first. However, do you know if the product contains any AHA? |

Hi angela - I don't have my Renew in front of me, but if it doesn't have AHAs in it is has other exfoliating ingredients...does anyone else know about this?
Summertime girl - It sounds like we are taking a similar route: I, too, have ordered the Skinceuticals Ultimate UV Defense SPF 30 -- and will ALSO be wearing it over my Phytomer moisturizer... we are skin-sisters.
Thanks for the confirmation that there really aren't any fabuloso moisturizers with SPF...I am SO looking forward to trying my new combo!
I have actually been using the Olay Total Effects 15 recently...and felt neither perfectly well moisturized nor well screened from the Rocky Mountain sun's harsh, harsh rays. It's not bad, just not great.
And yes, it is very true that Myrna constantly has to stave off admirers ...her skin is so glowey and her smile so sassy that sexy suitors just can't help themselves! Summertimegirl, I'm sure you already have many admirers!! |

Zazu,
I just had a look at the Skinceuticals Renew Overnight on the EDS site and it has 5% Hydroxy acid blend for gentle exfoliation.
I hope you will like the Phytomer moisturizer, because I'll feel responsible if you don't ! Which one did you end up getting-- the Extended Youth Night Cream? I've actually used that one for day as well when my day one ran out My Phytomer moisturiser and Skinceuticals Ultimate UV Defense SPF 30 combo is working great Zazu ! The other combo I look forward to is the Valmont Renewing Pack and Cellcosmet Contour Eye Cream....those sensations and aromas really bliss you out going to sleep ! Babyfish, have you tried this yet since you got a sample of the Cellcosmet Eye?
I'm not fending off the admirers like you guys, but I do find that a smile flashed gives an equal reaction !!

Is this very similar to Cellex C Betaplex Skin Smoother? |

Can someone guide me to the thread started by Alohagirl on fav product/skin type? I have searched high and low and I just can't find this particular thread! Thanks in advance. |

Thanks for the review. Generally I haven't had much luck with Skinceuticals products, I used their Phyto+ for months & got no results. I also didn't like their sunscreens or eyecreams/serums. But this product sounds pretty good. |

I also use the renew for oily skin and it's brilliant! It's also vey economical because you need a tiny amount so it will last for ages. |
