Somebody help me out there. I 've used Almia for a week and I remember saying to myself this is the best product ever and I'd probably stick to it for the rest of my life...but then now im having bad break outs- every pore is clogged, its itchy, it feels irritated. Urgent help needed! Anyone else out there had a reaction to MMU??
The ingredients in Alima:
Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Zinc Oxide (CI 77947) Mica (CI 77019). May contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77489).
Does anyone know what could it be that im allergic to? And any advise as to what to do meanwhile to clam the allergy down?? Sad Sad Sad

Of these, I´ve heard of allergies to mica. Though I´m sure one can have sensitivities to the oxides as well.

Have you used minerals before? If so, which brands?

If you haven´t used MMU before, I´m thinking that you might have a reaction to lack of the emollients in makeup. As with skincare, if the skin becomes dehydrated it will produce more oil, which can lead to breakouts and whatnot. Have you changed anything else in your routine?

These are just some initial thoughts, I´m sure someone else will chime in with more ideas.

As for calming the allergies, discontinue use of all products, esp things which exfoliate and contain acids. A mild moisturizer (I would say oil, but it doesn´t work for everyone) should be all you need over the next few days.

It might not be theb Alima though. It could be hormonal, due to other products, just a coincidence or whatever. I´d patchtest on one side of my face once everything clears up, just to be sure.

Some people experience the sensitivity to zinc oxide. Here are two MMU brands that are zinc oxide free:
- Cory's (Corycosmetics.com)
- Earth Beauty (Earthbeauty.com)

Don't give up on Alima just yet. Try this first. Are you buffing? If so, with a stiff kabuki brush? Hard buffing, excessive buffing or buffing with a firm brush can cause tiny fissures which after awhile can result in an itchy sensation. Try using a flocked sponge for one week until everything heals.

Personally, I don't buff at all - it's too irritating.

I dont buff, and only use the Dermalogica micro exfoliant to sweep off dead skin cells. I cant use any of that now, its too irritated. Am only using Cetaphil at the moment. Hope it heals quicker. I did some research and Im most likely allergic to Mica than the zinc oxide. Anyone know of MMU brand without mica??

According to Corycosmetics.com all of her matte forumlas are mica free.

You may want to ask over at mineral makeup mania. If anyone knows, they will.
