I just want to let you all know how much I really love this kit, and to let anyone out there who has considered buying it, to know they won't go wrong and should definitely take the plunge. I purchased the kit as soon as it came out because I loved all the colours included and had been waiting for a set like this for some time. I was about to buy the "Brown Sugar" Triple shadow kit but when I saw this kit come out I decided I had to have this one instead. It's absolutely perfect! I've already raved about JI eyeshadow before and this kit is no exception. The colours are fabulous for those of us with green or grey eyes. And forget the "nighttime" name; I use most of the colours in this kit for day and just apply them more heavily for an evening look. The applicator brush it comes with is also fantastic as are all other JI brushes. The reason I fell in love with Jane Iredale in the first place is, number 1, the ingredients; they are of superior quality and perfect for people with sensitive eye areas like myself as they are gentle and non irritating. JI shadows also go on with ease, blend well, and have excellent staying power. Even after an 8 - 10 hr work day, the colour still looks as great as it did when I put it on in the morning. There is no greasy eyelid look, no caking in the creases, no flaking and no disappearing act (all of which I've experienced in the past with cheaper eyeshadows and even some other mineral makeup brands I've tried). JI eyeshadows are without a doubt the best I've ever tried and I will definitely continue to buy again and again. I've heard that "Bling" kit shouting my name for a while now. LOL But I think I'll resist and save that splurge for summer. |

Hi wildflower. I'm glad you posted such a positive review. I have been thinking of getting the Daytime kit --I have light brown eyes. Trouble is, I *never* wear eyeshadow. But I figured starting with JI would be good (I wear the pure pressed and amazing base daily -- not at the same time! ) The Daytime kit looks like it has a good sampling of neutral colors that won't intimidate a newbie like me. And that it also comes with a brush (I have zero e/s brushes) is another good thing. I appreciate your take on the Daytime kit if you have it. |

Hi Marci,
I don't have the daytime kit but with your brown eyes, I think it would be excellent for you. The colours will certainly take you into the evening as well. There are a lot of effects you'll be able to master with the colours in that kit with pratice. And don't worry about being a newbie eyeshadow wearer. You have to start at some point right? The brush will certainly make it easier for you as well so you'll be a pro before you know it. A good tip for application is: if you have close-set eyes, apply a lighter colour in your inner eye area (closer to the nose) and a darker colour in the outer area and into the crease. If you have far set eyes then follow the reverse. If your eyes are an equal distance, I like to follow the shading for close-set eyes as I find the look more flattering. I also like to highlight the brow bone with a very light shimmery shade for a boost. Just take the plunge and practice. Through trial and error you'll find out which way to apply and which colours work best for you and you'll be an expert before you know it. Good luck! |

JI shadows are my favourites, too. They never crease on me, and look fresh all day. I don't buy palettes any more, but if I did I'd be all over this one! It's a great value, and the colours are neutral enough to suit almost everyone. |

I only have a couple of JI lipsticks (Diana and Misty in the sheer formulation, Susan in the regular), but wouldn't call them muddy. They apply smoothly and last well, and the colours remain true, on me, at least. |
