This was my first foray into the Dr Hauschka range, although I know how popular it already is with many forum members.
I'd been searching for an end to the dreaded post-sunscreen shiny face and I think this may well be the solution for me.
The loose powder comes in quite a large, squat, round, screw-lidded container. There's an inner lid with sifter holes, plus a powder puff.
First thing I did was to remove the puff, as I'm not a fan of this kind of application. I find it less easy to control the amount of product I want to use and was looking for only a light sweeping of powder. Also, I was concerned that leaving the powder puff inside the container would result in it becoming completely covered in loads of powder if it got moved or knocked.
The powder itself is translucent and looks a similar shade to the untinted version of BE Mineral Veil.
I decided to use my JI Handi Brush to apply the Dr Hauschka powder (on sunscreened skin without foundation). This worked very well. When I'd previously used Mineral Veil with my Handi Brush, it was necessary for me to buff it in afterwards with a flocked sponge. But the Dr Hauschka powder was so light in texture and blended so well into my skin that no sponging was needed.
Although I feel that the DH powder doesn't give quite so "radiant" an effect as the Mineral Veil, it still looked really good on my skin - very natural, light coverage that got rid of the shine without looking dry or cakey. "Your skin, but better," as carekate might say!
I kept an eye on my skin throughout the day and was delighted to see that no flakiness appeared - unlike with the Mineral Veil. This had been a major concern of mine because my skin can be pretty dry. As an experiment, I didn't even use any JI D2O Hydrating Spray to spritz the powder and it still looked good until the day's end.
Wahey! Result! |

I'm so pleased you like it majorb! I always hold my breath a bit when I LOVE something and someone buys it sort of on my recommendation. Phew, now I can relax!
I totally love this stuff. It is very light and goes on not cakey at all. Yay, yay, yay!
Although I don't use it, I've left the puff in the container so that the powder does spill out and I can control how much I put on my brush better.

Cinnamon! Yum! I so want to try this! But I am torn between this and the gorgeously rose scented Jurlique powder... What to do, what to do....? |

rosebud - I don't know whether it smells like Dr Hauschka's other products, but I do like the scent. I found it to be kind of herby/ floral. Today I tried it over my JI Loose foundation. Looking good so far.
chimera - How strange! I didn't find it cinnamony at all. (Would have loved that!)
Kiwigirl - I know what you mean! Tjanks so much for the rec!
Mabsy - Well, if you end up trying the Jurlique, let us know how you get on. It did sound lovely. |

majorb - does this powder have a pinkish tint or is is truly translucent? I know you said it's like the Mineral Veil but I've never seen that either Thanks. |

This product sounds like something I would like to try. I need to wear foundation and concealer everyday and always set with powder. I've been using compact powders as opposed to loose, but my favorites keep getting discontinued. Has anyone tried this powder with liquid foundation? I am very fair-skinned, so wonder if there would be too much tint for me? Is this powder light enough to set foundation yet not settle into the fine lines and accentuate them? Would the compact powder be a better option for me? Thanks. |

I've been using the Jurlique for a long time now so it's a matter of deciding if I should stick with it or if I should try the Dr H. I do really like the Jurlique powder. Lovely rose scent and does well to control the t-zone shine |

I'd say the colour is the same as a pale-ish neutral skin tone, but when applied I can't actually see any colour on my skin.
Here you can see a photo of the powder in the pot. That's pretty much true to life, so it should give you some idea of what I mean:

I wanted to chime in on this, although I'm using Dr. H translucent compact rather than loose powder. It's lovely stuff, kind of smells like roses. Great for reducing shine on my very oily skin. I use it as a finishing powder on top of Everyday Minerals foundation. |
