thanks felinehhy. Long time ago i once bought from Victoria's secret and then due to the uk tax it became a mess. Not only i had to pay extra, i had to go to a specific post office to pay it wonder whether it's the same for skincare etc. |

Hi Horris
Sometimes we get caught with customs charges and sometimes we don't. They seem to have tightened up recently. Personally I've never been charged by customs. It still works out cheaper buying from the US usually with or without VAT.
Here's a thread from a little while back on this.

I usually work out approx how much the Customs fee, delivery, VAT and admin fees will be before ordering. That way, if I do get hit with the extra charges (which happens round about half the time to me), I know what to expect.
Often you can still save money by ordering from overseas sites, and EDS does have really good prices. |

It is completely random whether you get customs charges or not. I went through a stage where everything I got from abroad had charges slapped on it.
The guy I moaned at in the post office said that due to internet shopping C&E are now slapping charges on about 1 in 3 parcels whereas it used to be 1 in 50. They have found a good way to steal even more of our money.
You are even liable for charges on personal gifts. I always calculate what extrs I might be charged and generally it is still cheaper to buy abroad even with the extras |

it depends on your customs officer's mood
don't worry about that. |
