I use a regular terrycloth towel. I read somewhere that people were using paper towels -- more gentle to skin than terrycloth and the disposable aspect was said to be better for skin that was breakout prone. |

I'll use cloth over paper anyday. I had a bad cold once and could not stand the pain caused to my nose by using tissues. I switched to handkerchiefs, which I know are germ cesspools, but my nose started healing right away. No paper on my face anymore! |

I always let my face air dry ...
Having had a history of breakouts, I am a bit anal about things like washcloths and towels. I use a fresh, clean washcloth each time I clean my face [I have a cupboard full of freshly laundered washcloths! ]... and I just let my face air dry before using toner on it.
I don't know when I made the connection between using a towel on my face and continued breakouts ... but since I started using OCM and letting my face air dry my breakouts have been minimal to non-existent.
Now ... I don't attribute this to air drying alone ... my entire routine has made the difference ... but air drying has certainly helped.

I use a regular old bath/hand towel several times before I get a new one (it's a dedicated face towel, no hands or other parts touch it).
I tried using paper towels for a while but didn't stick with it long enough to see if it would reduce my breakouts... I felt wasteful using all that paper when a washable towel works just as well. |

I use white hand towels I buy at Target. Have dozens of them and use a new one every time I wash. Yeah, I know I am nuts, but I think it helps keep my face clear.

Sounds like a great idea! If I can neaten up my laundry closet to store enough of them that woudl be ideal for me! |

I use paper towels! Bounty is the softest brand. I'm not break out prone, but started this several years ago when my allergies were really bad and it really helped. |

I use unbleached, undyed linen. I just bought a few yards at a fabric store and cut it into about a dozen squares. That lets me use a new cloth each time I wash my face, and then I launder them all at once. |

I keep a roll of paper towels under my sink and use those. I never could keep enough washcloths clean to have a fresh one every day, and that is important to my warding off breakouts. I also pat rather than rub. |

Interesting... I never quite made a connection btw breakouts and what you use to dry your face with. I do have a dedicated face towel, but I certainly do not change it everyday This should suit my germophobia quite nicely, thanks! |

me too, regular bath towel, but pat. If I had more space, I would use the large velvety wash towels they have here in Japan to pat my face dry.. but our bathroom is so small there is not even anywhere to hang yet another towel. LOL |

I use terry cloth to just blot my face so the water isn't dripping on the floor and then pat it dry. I've started to use paper towels though funny thing, especially when I do my chemical peels. |

Regular bath towel, I do tend to replace them as soon as they are not Downey soft so it is always like a pillow when I'm drying off |

Air dry.
Years ago I came across an article where it was described that using paper towels can damage the skin ( there was some explanation about small particles that can scratch the skin, etc.). |
