Is it normal to feel a stinging sensation when applying copper peptides (I'm using SkinBio's reg. CP)?
I've been applying 4 drops CP + 4 drops water on my face, excluding eye area, every other night. After applying the CPs, I feel a sting on certain little areas on my face and it lasts for several minutes. Should I be concerned or is this nothing?
Thanks. |

Hi, madelie, and welcome!
I experience the same thing with Skin Bio's. CP. It hasn't caused any adverse effects, so far (4 months). I'd recommend you just keep an eye out for signs of redness or further irritation. If that happens, discontinue use and contact Skin Bio. They might tell you it's normal and to continue use. That seems to happen a lot. But, if the stinging becomes worse or you can actually see irritation, DO discontinue use. Better safe than sorry as you know your skin better than anyone else.

mornin' madelie
in addition to diluting your cp's, you can apply your
bho (biological healing oil - ex. emu or squalane) first - then apply the diluted copper.
this provides a "buffered" delivery of copper.
many folks experience the sting.
I never did until i used skin bio's folligen on my eyelashes the first time. there was a slight difference in the sensation around my eyes than the feeling on my scalp - hard to describe the difference except i could sorta tell it was a bit too intense around my eye area whereas my scalp felt more "tingly".
the following day I had some signs of overusage around my eyes.
thru out the day i used my emu generously, and twice applied an emulsion of reg. cp serum/emu.
i was good to go the next day.
- of course that's me and my skin.
some folks just can't use this active.
your skin should adopt if you take it slow.
if anyone goes slow and still experiences discomfort and signs of overuse (puffiness, crepey skin.etc..),
I'm thinkin' this just isn't the product for them.
I hope you "find your groove" with the cp's
it's a killer product! |

I agree with the ladies - Emu Oil should help.
I also used DMAE from Kripps Pharmacy, I do not know how good it was for firming, but it had a very good antiinflamatory effect and calmed any irritation I might have had from CPs.

Do you see ball up happening? I don't know if I say it correctly. After CP or DMEA serum, I layer rosehip oil and emu oil and I see CP or DMEA ball up. I mean they come up and don't seem to sink in. |

did you allow the actives time to dry before applying the oil?
I'm not sure of the order, but
apply dmae - let it dry (5, 10 mins)
apply cp's - let dry
then apply oil.
I've never had it happen personally, but I've heard folks mention "balling up" before. The drying period seems to help. |

my experience with dmae -
it does some firming/lifing, but in my case it would occasionally cause some subtle irritation.
i suspect this was due to the bitrate form
(I've only used a dianna yvonne product ?intensive nutrition?? -the earlier dmae she carried,
and my own diy potion w/ bitrate).
I mention this only because if anyone out there has skin similar to mine -
dmae (particulary bitrate) might not be soothing. |

From what I understand Kripps formula contains ALA, which is antiinflamatory. I tried DMAE from DY - that formula indeed did nothing in terms of inflamation, and had too low a percentage of DMAE to be effective. The original was 0.5%, and then they came up with a new one - 3% gel. But again there were some problems with the one they gave for testing to Deb, and the one they finally released.

yes, those are the DY dmae's that I've tried -
I did get a little bit of firming from both formulas
- more so with the 3%.
i was surprised that the first ended up being .5% - glad it was a sample/gift with purchase.
kripps sounds interesting. i wonder if it's the silk formula with R-ala?
(that's two dmae products that'll go on the research list).
thanks for the info. |
