I read magazines today and notice one thing that some VIPs from Hollywood have no wrinkles at all in their faces, however, they obviously don't look young either. Why? I guess it is because of the elastic in their faces, isn't it? The skin in their faces is quite dry and not tired either. One of my classmate has two deep lines from her nose down to her mouth, but she still looks young, as young as a 25-year-old girl is suppose to look like.
So I guess elastic is very important for us to stay or look young. How do you think? How can we boot elastics in our skin? |

I was wondering this too, while watching depserate housewives Some of the women on that show have flawless skin, but you can still tell that they aren't 25 anymore. The only thing I know of that can help prevent your skin from losing its elasticity is keeping it very hydrated with someting like emu or jojoba Looking forward to others' ideas though.. |

A lot of it is due to the loss of fat. As we age, our faces lose the fat padding that plumps and fills it out. Look at Christie Brinkley. One of the reasons she looks so fantastic (she is in her 50s) is because her face is full & plump. I have heard that Wexler does her filler work. This makes total sense as the Dr herself is obviously "filled" in. Seriously, has anyone seen her? She is pushing 60 if not already there and her face is absolutely lineless and as a full as a baby's. |

Yes I have noticed this recently too and I have come to the conclusion that it is 'volume' of skin. I would think it is related to the skin fat layer and / or hydration level also.
This is something the Revive product claims to address with the KGF see description below.
I keep thinking that when they resolve this 'volume' issue we will be sooooo happy!!!
Who is Wexler?
Revive Skincare - Intensite Volumizing Serum - 1 oz
Wrinkles are not the enemy of youth. More insidious is the subtle loss of facial volume that dramatically ages a face. Volume loss could never be managed with a skincare cream...until now. RéVive introduces its most potent molecule yet, KGF (Keratinocyte Growth Factor). Intensité Volumizing Serum with KGF augments the subtle loss of facial volume and plumps trouble areas (i.e. puppet and frown lines). KGF halts the aging process by turning over dying skin cells 8 times faster and hinders DNA fragmentation. Skin is immediately dewy and vibrant. KGF’s dynamic activity allows for a molecular dialogue with underlying layers of skin that contributes to increased volume after several weeks. Whitening Tri-Complex depigments the skin eliminating blemishes and dark spots associated with aging. Powerful anti-radical defense system shields against pollution, stress and damaging UVB rays. Intensité Volumizing Serum is the optimal solution before considering or in preparation for a surgical procedure. |

Yes, fat grating can make you look young there are examples of it on dr. ellenbogens websitewww.beverlyhillsbody.com. Its the fat that makes you look young, whether or not you retain the fat depends on your own bosy'a metBOLISM and also the skill of the injector.Dr Ellenbogen has done over 40,000 procedures , he told me less than 3% have to come back for touchups.,if true thats amazing. |

Genetics and lifestyle have a lot to do with the aging of the body as well as the quality of the skin over time. The celebrities that look so great generally have surgery at a early age, meaning small touch-ups, rather than a major change later on in life which can be more noticable to the public. If the face has no wrinkles including expression lines then you can bet something has been done whether its botox, surgery and/or laser/chemical peels. Un fortunately, we have come to think that expression lines are abnormal as well. Thats a shame. I have had the pleasure working with high profile clients and you would be shocked that most don't look that great in person when you remove the makeup, hair, clothing, lighting, photo re-touch, etc. Yes, there are one's that have good facial structure, etc. to begin with, but to maintain that flawless look requires work at all levels-good nutrition, exercise, and of course a committment to all of this. Dr Patricia Wexler is a high profile dermatologist in New York. She's often quoted in Beauty Mags, etc and has her own skincare line. |

I have read a lot of about people's experiences with fat grafting. Everyone had to have multiple procedures in order to have the desired fullness I have read one woman ended up with lumpy cheeks. Yikes!
I have a long face and always wanted a rounder face/fuller cheeks. I am just too chicken for sx. |

Ive often wondered that too with alot of women who have no lines but you can still tell they're in their 40's etc. I guess there's more to looking youthful than whether we have lines on our face.
My face hasnt got thinner yet I still look older than I did 5 yrs ago even My skin is still the same too so I guess we just get a more mature look as we get older. |

I agree with above........this is an advantage to having a little more body fat!
It's odd that this is brought up. In the grocery store while thumbing thru a magazine, I saw this very topic...........
comparing for example...sarah jessica parker and kristin davis..........kristin looked SO much younger in a side by side photo.
Parker is thinner and every line around her eyes could be seen where as Davis looked at least 10 years younger..
Seeing this made me have a snack....... |

As I said before, your fat grafts are only as good as the fat grafter. You need to go to someone who has a lot of experience, there are many new advances in fat grating, its one procedure that can really keep you looking young. |

I believe it's the fullness too; the volume in the lower half of the face, specifically. Also, firmness. |

I also think it's the fullness that makes your face seem younger. But certain features do too--fuller lips, rounder cheeks, wide eyes, etc. can all contribute to a more youthful appearance, even if one has a few lines here and there.
My mother swears that there's a certain quality to the skin of a twenty-something woman that is impossible to reproduce in the skin of someone older. A certain "glow" or radiance that is lost after awhile. I wonder if it has to do with hormones or declining fertility? |

I agree with all of you. But I also notice one more thing that some ladies who is a bit fat with round face also look old when they are aging. I guess our skin is not as shine (shine in skin itself, not oily) as when we are young, not as elastic either. It is just my opinion. |

you can obtain a certain glow with some skin products and a strong retinA like Tazarac, you have to be very careful how you use it. Also some strong chemical peels and a Facelift and fat grafting could roll back a lot of years but it would sure empty your bank account. |

plastic surgery(even shots) can easily straighten the wrinkles. But if it is just as flat as a tightened sheet, how good will it look? I personally feel plumpy face with some baby fat is cute. Afterall, health spirit from inside is more important. |

I can assure you a good plastic surgeon can easily take 10 to 15 yrs off your face, you wont look 20 ok? But say if you are 50 you will look like a good 40,I 'll take that anyday,I am 52 and men think I am in my mid thirties,I got very lucky I had a good dr. (I exercise a lot and watch what I eat, that helps too of course along with good skincare and botox) |

I can't afford cosmetic surgery - and the husband wouldn't countenance it even if I could. But I have to say that, at 52, I have fewer wrinkles than my best friend who's ten years younger. But I still look older. Go figure, as they say... |

I'm really young but I'm also really observant...and i notice older women that have more body fat on them have plumper and less saggy skin for the most part. A lot of the thinner women that get older might not have obvious lines on their face, but that doesn't mean that gravity will help them in any way. Perhaps fat tissue is a good thing in terms of supporting the skin as people age? It's also scary when heavier women that are older may look bigger..decide to lose weight, and add 10 years on their face but 10 years off their body ..like they are exchanging a leaner body for a saggier face. i think i analyze too much ha. |

purpleturtle--that is exactly what i have always thought! i am a pretty observant person with such things, i think that's why i prefer the curvier look (think marilyn monroe and not kirstie alley), i think it keeps women more youthful looking than the bone to muscular thin look. |

My observation is that some women who work-out excessively end up with what I call a "runners face & neck". The tendons looks like they are in a constant state of tightness and protrude in the neck area (even when they aren't moving). And their faces are much too lean which emphazises hollows. I always find these women look older as a result. I guess it all boils down to how much fat and fullness you have in your face. And this includes the neck area which looks best if it is toned yet smooth and relaxed at the same time. Even if your face isn't wrinkled or hollow, it's amazing how pivital the neck area is in maintaining an overall appearance of youthfulness. I also concur with the poster that said some women who lose a significant amount of weight end up with a younger looking body but older looking face. Oy - if only we could naturally control where we want our fat to be in our bodies!!! |
