PHEW! I have not seen this man in concert for some 15 years but after seeing him again tonight at Tokyo Dome I would have to say that like a fine wine, he has aged to perfection.
He would have to be one of the most charismatic performers on stage and is one of those rare jewels who when performing live sound just like they do on their CDs. The Dome was packed with about 65,000 tonight (and last night too) with the bulk of them on their feet within 5 seconds of his opening (and no sucky support band either thank goodness).
One of the more interesting aspects of attending a concert in a Japanese arena is how plastered one can get with the alcohol roaming through the stands before the concert (and you can just duck out to the concession for more during).. they offered buckets of beer, lemon sours (a Japanese liquor called shochu) and even mini bottles of a couple of different whiskeys!!
OH and the concert tonight was filmed to be shown on TV in Japan early next year.. you can bet we will be taping that to watch again!!
Now, if I can just scrape up fare to traipse off to BJ's concerts in Sapporo, Fukuoka, Osaka and Nagoya next week.... |

One of the parents at my school when to see him in Sydney - he was excellent. Much better than U2 apparently. |

I saw him 4 or 5 times back in the 80's and he was absolutely amazing back then! I've often wondered whether he still had the energy he had back then. Thanks for posting, brought back good memories |
