Alright,
After all the product reviews I want to purchase both an oil and a balm from the Decleor line. Can anyone advise/precribe which one will be best for me?
I am usually slightly oily but in the winter, I can be more combo, maybe even dry.
I want to know if I should get
A) Ylang oil and balm or
B) the neroli oil and essential balm
Do I need both a balm and oil?
Also, am I supposed to wash/rince the oil off?
Do I follwo with a moisturizer?
Thanks for any input you may have! |

I'm not sure which would be better, since you get dry, but you do not wash either off.
The balm is used at night. The oil I use in the AM and follow up with a moisturizer and sunscreen.
I use the YY oil everyday...I use the YY balm at night for two to three weeks, then the Essential balm for one to two weeks. |

Paris, do you think the YY balm is basically the oil emulsified w/ beeswax or something to make it.....balmy?
I'm going to make some YY oil tonight, and was considering trying the beeswax thing. |

O come on guys . . . please advise me!
I did some research and read that neroli oil has helaing properties and actually help skin rejuvinate and can heal surface sacrring while ylang ylang mainly balances oil and treats breakouts.
I'n not having too many break outs now but also, I want to keep them at bay. What do you all think about me using the neroli oil and the ylang ylang balm together?
I really appreciate speedy responses as this decleor purchase is burning a hole in my pocket and I want it fast. I"d like to purchase by tomorrow please respond! |

Is the oil only for daytime use or can you use it at night as well? |

I am one of the rare people that didn't have any luck with Decleor. Neroli made me break out. I use Dr. H normalizing oil or jojoba. Sorry this doesn't answer your question but I wanted to say be careful -get samples first. I have combo skin and tend to break out on forehead and cheeks near nose. YY would be too drying for me. |

I don't like Ylang Ylang oil either... It causes break out on my cheeks, btw, I have oil/dry combination skin. Also it's too oil to apply it in the morning, my face will become so shiny even I use moisturizer on top of the oil. |

I guess I'll throw in my two cents.
I have been plagued with this question myself for several months. I have gotten several samples of these and have been trying them out for the past two months.
I'm not quite certain what I will purchase but my hunch is now both of them in the oils and the balms. My skin responds to both well. I use the neroli as an overall one and the ylang ylang when my skin needs help with the breakouts. I think if I use the ylang ylang solely, it will be two drying. I tend to alternate morn versus night with the two. Paris alternates weeks. I'm not sure which I should do. I keep trying to ask Decleor people but I never seem to find an exclusive decleor person at a counter so salesladies vary in their answers.
I know that my skin loves them both and I now will get both once my stash of samples run out.

I'll tell you one thing...I'd never go a day without my YY oil! For me it soaks in within minutes. Love iT!
I've skipped days with the balm...mainly because I get lazy. But I'll tell you, Essential is AWESOME for congestion. Fabulous. |

I got a sample of the Essential balm and I actually liked it. I only used it at night and I would not put a moisterizer on top of it. I have to admit that I put a size of a pea on my hand, rub it in, then pat my face. In the morning, my nose was very oily. Overall, it is really nice but somehow I like the texture of Cellcosmet creams.
I have not tried YY oil yet becaue I never got a sample. I found Sonya Dakar Omega 3 serum perfect to balance out my oily skin. |

I would suggest use the oil and moisturizer in the AM. At night, use only the YY balm or Essential Balm. |

My skin is oily tzone and normal to slightly oily elsewhere depending on season and hormones. I love the ylang ylang oil does an amazing job of clearing blackheads ect on the nose. I did try the neroil oil and didnt find it really did anything for me. I also use the essential balm when I feel my skin needs it and I absolutely love this one, I have not tried the ylang ylang balm though.
When I use the yy oil it is generly at night before the balm or another moisturiser. If I use during the day I pretty much only apply lightly on my tzone area

Chellsta,
You should go whit neroli if you say you got combo skin and not a lot og breakout. Then in summer you can order Ylang-Ylang. And you put your moisturizer on top of it, so the essentials oils are like a conductor (im not even sure if its a real word in english... )
Another thing ...Ive heard that its good to put these aromessences after a extraction because essential oils are antibacterial. |

EDS are brilliant for Decleor samples so ask for the ones you want next time you place an order for PTR or whatever. Maybe a combination of ylang ylang oil and ylang ylang balm + essential balm may work for your skin?
I actually had some essential balm years and years ago when I used Decleor and never used it because I was paranoid (as it was oily) but after I got a sample a few months ago from EDS I was converted. The forum archives have loads of info on Decleor oils and balms but here are some random things from me:
- Essential balm works really well but only use for a few nights of the month (hormonal times), it sort of just balances your skin out.
- The Decleor lady in Harrods says that essential balm is a night cream to be used on its own with nothing else on top.
- You only ever need 3 drops of any Decleor oil, measure these carefully
- a famous make up artist said in the newspapers the other day that a couple of drops of neroli oil (generally no mention of Decleor) is the perfect make up primer as it plumps up the skin
- I have been trying my ylang ylang sample out in the mornings, also tried it out under my rosehip oil (which i use most days as a day moisturiser at the moment) and normal moisturiser and it worked fine but if I've tried it on its own then it's definitely not enough for me (but I don't have oily skin). I would trial different combinations more but I'm already balancing rosehip oil at night and PTR hydrating lotion on other nights and to introduce something else on other nights would be too much of a faff to remember!
Sorry if that's not that helpful, as I said it was just random stuff! Luckily, Decleor are really generous with samples (and EDS pass it on) so you can try different things out! |

hi chellsta,
i have only tried decleor this year. i bought the essential balm and the rose oil a few months ago and received a smaple of the YY oil.
i love the essential balm! i only use it during "that time of the month" and i use it alone.
when my skin feels irritated, i use the rose oil. the oil is not meant to be rinsed off and after washing, the oil is the first thing i put on my face in the morning. sometimes, i get lazy and i don't use any oil and go straight to my vit C serum.
i recently went off the pill and my skin has been intolerable! out of nowhere, 5 enormous pimples appeared. sigh. i put some of the sample YY oil on last night and some oil free lotion. i think 3 of the pimples actually shrank!
if you get the YY balm, let me know how that works out for you. based on my recent skin experience, i might be needing some! |
