Anyone recommend the best in vitamin c serums. I have used the EmerginC 20% before & loved it but those little balls of magic kept getting stuck in the dropper..and beyond the bathroom boogie (ie wiggling, wriggling, jiggling & shaking) I know no other way of getting it unstuck. So am looking for another Vit C product that is equally as fabulous. Any recommendations ladies? Razz

I'm also using IS Clinical, but the ProHeal rather than Superserum as it's recommended for redness / flushing and I have some broken capillaries. I'd highly recommend it too.

The best (and least expensive!) Vitamin C serum is homemade--it's the only way to guarantee potency and freshness. Just get some NOW Foods powdered vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid) and mix 1/8 teaspoon with 1 teaspoon of a simple toner into an amber bottle. Shake it well before applying. Mix a new batch after a week.

Thanks a bunch Fifi & Panda. I have been toying with the IS Clinical serums. I would probably go the Super Serum. Do you know what percentage of Vit C is in it?

Hey Paleface thanks for the recipe. I guess that's a sure-fired way of knowing what's in it. In fact I think I will give that a go first and see what happens. Very Happy I'm not familiar with NOW Foods (I am in Australia) but I am sure there will be something similiar.

I am using a Vitamin C/VitE/ferulic product from Candessence. I love it. Before this, I used a similar (but much more expensive) product from Skinceuticals. The Candessence product smells better (actually, it has no smell)and is in an aloe base that absorbs easily. The Skinceuticals product smelled like hotdogs (to me) and felt stickier.

I can't recomend a specific brand, I make my own. But this post can assist you in finding (or making) the correct "type" for your needs.

Both the Superserum and the Proheal are 15%, so not the highest percentage vitamin c products around but they do have all sorts of other goodies in there too.

Tangal you are a wealth of information... that thread was a good read and spelt things out very clearly... I now feel equipped to pop on that lab coat and whip up my own potion.

And if things dont go so well...then I still have some great recommendations to run with. Razz

Hi Tangal,

I just wanted to ask you some questions about Vitamin C as you seem to have a thorough understanding about this product.

Now I've just purchase PSF 20% Vitamin C Serum & I'm in Sydney Australia & It's very hot here. I am worried about my serum going off from the heat so is it OK if I refrigerate the product.

Also should I be applying this strength of C Serum in the Am or only the Pm?

I have fairly dehydrated skin should a use a moisturizer after my C Serum has sunk in?

Thanks in advance with any help…
I need major enlightenment about Vitamin C serum, as It is my first time using it.

Thanks!

I really like Vivier Kine-C Dual Action Skin Firming Serum (Vitamin-C 10% + Kinetin). I have very sensitive skin and it is not irritating at all. I also like the texture. I think that my skin looks much better when I use it.

--Maybe, I am learning still . Wink

-I would definitely recommend you refrigerate it, unless the manufacturer recommends that you do not. In most cases Vit C should be refrigerated for best stability, especially if you are in a hot home. There are a few brands like the Professional Solutions Triple C, that does not like refrigeration,. But that is an exception.

Also should I be applying this strength of C Serum in the Am or only the Pm?

- either is fine depending on your needs, skin sensitivity and what you want to accomplish. AM will give you an extra antioxidant boost before going outside, which you need in your area probably. Just apply your sunscreen about 10-15 minutes after your C. If you cannot wait the 10 minutes, it would probably be better to do the C in the PM. As the 10 minute wait is really recommended for best “treatment” methods. But if you only need the Anti-oxidant, UV protective aide boost, without the treatment effect, then no wait time would be needed. Just add sunscreen right away.

I have fairly dehydrated skin should a use a moisturizer after my C Serum has sunk in?

- Wait 10 to 15 minutes, then do moisturizer, or a biological oil Like Emu, then your sunscreen.

Thanks in advance with any help…

-20% can be to high for a firt time user, or if your skin is sensitive, Use carefully.
Anymore questions, please ask, if I can’t help, I am sure someone else can. Wink
