Hi ladies! I want to try some samples of Alima's tinted balm with my next order, so I thought I'd see if anyone has any fave shades they'd recommend. I tend to lean toward neutral lip colors, so right now I'm eyeing Sugar Rose (a beigy-pink), chai (beige shimmer), and nutmeg (copery bronze), but I'd love to hear what everyone else likes! TIA! |

Hi Liz
Unfortunately, I didn't like any of the lip tints. I don't know if it is just me, but the samples were awfully hardened and impossible to apply. And on my more pigmented lips even the bright reds seemed to disappear against my natural lip colour.
I still have several unused samples, I'll send them out to you when I make up that face powder stuff |

I also got rid of my samples - they were very small, and the colours seemed underwhelming... |

I agree with everyone else. Although there are recs on MUA - the Chai might look nice on you although it's not really pigmented though. I got Freesia for myself and I like how it looks on me because I don't like anything too pigmented but it didn't really nourish my lips that well - I prefer Lush Lips a whole lot better. |

Liz, I bought the lip balm in Guava. It has no staying power, and no moisturizing properties. Don't waste your money, even if it's for a sample. |

I have both "Freesia" and "Peony." I LOVE the color of Freesia (its sort of a purplish/mauvey-pink) but I don't use it on its own. I apply my lipliner (Prestige's "Dream" - discontinued, so I got 6 of them last time I purchased!) as a liner and then color my lips in with it, and apply Freesia over it. Just perfect for me! I think the balm is moisturizing enough for me, I don't experience any peeling or chapping, etc. and the color actually lasts pretty well for a balm, but I'm imagining that's because I apply it over a lipliner. I'm thinking of sending a color swatch to Carrie so she can duplicate the color with her tinted balms because I think her product would be better for one's lips than the Alima.
However, I am going to start my Lips2Kiss system tonight so I'm going to have to STOP all other lip products, ESPECIALLY using a wax-based liner all over my lips, a real no-no on Kandis' system! If Carrie can duplicate the Freesia for me, I'm pretty sure I can use it after I get to the point on Kandis' system where I can use color because I don't think Carrie's balm has wax in it. |

I was thinking, maybe if I melted it in the microwave then I could get some substance out of it.. The last time I tried to apply I was so frustrated I literally broke the product into bits~~~ |

Good Idea MermaidGirl - maybe I'll send the sample pot to Carrie so she can make an identical colour. I also want to send her a swatch of my MAC Bunny Pink (from the PlayBoy Collection) as that's my HG pink lipstick. |

By all means, send me any samples or swatches (i.e: kiss a piece of white paper while wearing a thick coat of that shade or swipe the lipstick onto a sheet of white paper) -- I've completed formulation of the two "special request" colors ("Black Honey" and "Viva Glam V") so I'm ready to begin work on some new shades. |

I use Peony, and I love it. I still have some sample left and will order a full size as soon as I'm out. It leaves my lips feeling nourished (I don't feel the need to reapply an hour later) and just a hint of color.
I use a lip brush to apply it. Fingers won't do the trick. I can't tell you enough how wonderful I think the product is. Peony is a pinky, red color with slight shimmer. |

Thanks for all the recs ladies--- I'll definitely report back after I get some samples. And please keep your faves coming!^-^ Wouldn't it be nice if between Alima and Carekate I could go over to almost all natural lip colors? A girl can dream... |
