Hi girls,
I don't suffer from acne, but I am prone to clogged pores. Usually foundations, even if they are hypo-allergenic, non-comodogenic, oil-free, etc etc, clog my pores easily.
A few months ago I started using Almay "Skin Clearing Foundation". I know, I know, some of us are a bit skeptical when it comes to pharmacy products but WOW, this foundation kept my skin clear ever since I began using it. It contains .06% salicylic acid which is not enough to irritate skin (i have very sensitive skin). I usually noticed that all throughout the day, my pores seems clean and not clogged. A+++ to this foundation in terms of preventing blemishes.
However, the only thing I dislike about this foundation is that it's a bit thick and does not have a nice watery good finish on the face.
So has anyone else tried another salicylic acid foundation that you like??
TIA |

Neutrogena Skin Tint has SA in it. The coverage is too light for me but it has a nice finish and I used it a lot when my skin was clear (now I have too many acne scars to cover). |

Hey sp1, I was actually using this before I discovered mineral makeup. I liked the fact that this contained SA and didn't make my clogged pores any worse, but it didn't do anything to control my oil and itched like crazy! Glad to hear this worked for you, I still have a nearly full bottle sitting in my makeup area that I don't know what to do with! |

I'm with Athena. I actually used Almay's skinclearing powder for YEARS (like, 7 or 8 years! ) and I always THOUGHT it was helping with clogged pores, but then I made the switch to mineral makeup and wow, what a difference!! There are a lot of good mineral makeups out there, but you want to avoid any that contain bismuth as that has been known to clog pores (For example, Bare Escentuals contains it.). I use Alima and I just LOVE it--- the color selection is awesome, and you can even request that they mix colors for your own custom foundation at no extra charge. I also have very sensitive skin, and this makeup has never irritated it. Not only that, but their brushes are sooo silky, I can buff and blend all day with them without a hint of redness. (Unlike a certain Chanel kabuki that tore my face up! ) Unfortunately their face brushes are out of stock right now, but they're supposed to come back into stock before the end of the month. In the meantime if you want to try some samples, the code EDS10 will get you a 10% discount. HTH! |
