Just gotta tell you how great I think Colorescience Sunforgettable SPF 30 powder is for kids! As much as I preach to my 12 year old son about good skincare and the importance of wearing sunscreen, getting him to use these things is next to impossible! When I would apply SS he wouldn't stay put long enough for me to do an efficient job and it would usually end up seeping into his eyes during gym class. He also hated the greasy, heavy feeling of the SS on his face. Now I use the Colorescience powder on him and it's a breeze to brush it on! It only takes several seconds to apply all over his face including eye area. It's clear, completely non-greasy and lightweight, it stays on all day, and there's no running into or stinging the eyes. I love this invention! |

Hi Lola! I use the LRP dermo-pediatrics myself sometimes! Only problem with my son is that there is no way I'm going to get him to reapply during the day, so a mineral based sunscreen is much more efficient for him. |

Ooh, that Colorescience Sunforgettable powder sounds great!
I wonder if I could sneak it onto my fiance while he's sleeping. He likes the sun A LOT and ends up being a lobster most of the summer. |

lil_miss_skincare, thanks for mentioning this. I have a 13 yo son who I might get this for, based on your rec. One question -- does your son think of it as just applying s/s? Does he make any comments about it possibly being make-up related? |

Great idea about sneaking it on in his sleep! lol About the makeup thing, I was concerned about that too, that my son might think it was like dusting makeup on, but I talked all about it being a new brush-on sunscreen and how it was designed for kids and men who don't like to take the time to put on creams! I stressed how convienient and easy it was and he seems pretty okay with it. Another tip is that you can buy the refills of it which are cheaper and just put them in your own container (I buy empty powder shaker jars from Sephora) and use your own powder brush! I actually like this method better as I don't really care for the Colorescience applicator brush. If it's possible, maybe you can find a nice manly looking powder brush to help with the "guy factor"! lol Maybe even a soft-bristled shaving brush?
About cleansing, that's another tough one as my son hates to wash his face as well! (I can't wait till he's out of this phase!) I know it's not as effective, but the one thing I can get him to use most regularly (again because of the "easy" factor) are pre-moistened cleansing wipes and pads. The ones to remove makeup (for the sunscreen) and also the ones to help clear acne (he has blackheads).
Another thing I've gotten him to let me do is smooth on some Skinceuticals C + E Ferulic a couple of minutes before the sunscreen powder. I talk like turkey to him about skin cancer and how many more people are getting it these days and how this will help to prevent it. I've tried telling him how it prevents wrinkles and how he'll be so happy about that someday but he could still care less about that! Pubescent boys, Ugggh!!!!
P.S. No spray form that I know of, but that's not a bad idea! |

Sounds great! I used to think the sunscreen powder must be very white and hard to apply. Seems it is not this case at all. I am considering getting one. |

I have the PTR ultra lite oil-free spray. It's not a mist so you have to still spread and rub around. I think most spray ss are like this. It's mostly good for control, so you don't squirt too much out. hth |

Thanks for posting this - I will be very interested to see your review! I would love to have a powder sunscreen with a nice finish.
The PTR ingredient list looks great, it doesn't have silicones like the Colorescience does so maybe the finish is not so heavy.
Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide 15%, Zinc Oxide 10%
Inactive Ingredients: Mica, Silica, Zea Mays Starch (Corn), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Salix Alba Bark Extract (Willow), Iron Oxides |

Wonder if anyone tried this before:
Vichy Capital Soleil "Kids" Multi-Surface Resistant Milk,
SPF 50+/PPD 22 100 ml.
This highly protective sunscreen is dubbed "children's sunscreen" because it is so sweat and sand resistant. It is excellent for outdoor activities in which you might be sweating. It will not run into your eyes and dries with a semi-matte, "dry-touch" feel. The formula is almost identical to the Anthelios Dermo-Peds for about $10 less per tube! Fragrance free. Value size 100 ml. Great for ALL skin types. (MORE) |
