There was a short review done on this mascara by Gucci a couple years back, but this product deserves to have an updated and detailed review!
I had used the Dior Mascara Parfait (Cashmere) for almost 10 years and then they discontinued it.. then I finally found a replacement - an even better mascara I thought - that being Blinc's Kiss Me. I have been in love with it and have worn it every day since discovering it on EDS two years ago. Though I did try another fiber mascara sold in Japan (Fiber Wig), I remained faithful to Kiss Me.
In June I saw an ad in an Australian magazine for the MF Masterpiece and was intrigued by the wand. It is not a normal wire-brush spool type, but rather what they call an iFX brush that has flexible silicone bristles. It took me till my trip home at Xmas to pick some up (needed a blue mascara so decided to give Masterpiece a whirl)
OH-MY-LORD I give this out of 5 I hate to say it, but I like Masterpiece even better than Kiss Me!!
Why do I love it so?
1. Never clumps
2. Gives me lashes so lush that people comment on my appearance
3. Application is a breeze with this new wand, somehow much easier than the old wire brush spool type - even the little tiny inner eye lashes
4. Does NOT flake at all during a day - even a long day -
(sometimes at the end of a very long day I find that Kiss Me flakes/rubs off easy and gives a bit of a panda look - though my current tube might be getting a bit old/dry )
5. Comes off like a breeze (used Cellcosmet Gel, A'kin cream, PSF Green Tea) - I never even rubbed the eyelashes with the cleanser really, just smoothed my palm over my face/eyes and it rinsed off completely.
The blue is an awesome color and at about AU$22 (got it at Big W) it is a bargain. I am SO getting this in Brown when I go home again in June!!! Max Factor Japan has the silicone wand in a line called "Lash Artist" (only in brown and black) but have not gone to check out if it is exactly the same as Masterpiece.
In Australia & UK (Europe) they sell Masterpiece in Black, Brown and Blue
In USA they don't seem to have a "Masterpiece" mascara but do have "Lash Perfection" "Lash Perfection Waterproof" and "Volume Couture" mascaras that use the iFX brush.
I do still love my Kiss Me and I think I will buy that one in purple but have the Masterpiece in Blue and Brown.
Signed,
A very happy mascara camper |

Tiger, can you please post the ingredients? I tried to Google the ingredients and cannot find them anywhere. I want to see if it has anything in it that might melt off with my heated eye lash curler! TIA! |

OK, well that might be a bit difficult.. it did not come in a box.. the lid was sealed with some kind of tape and I dont remember seeing an attached paper of ingredients. Will look at the tube tonight, but surely they would not all be crammed onto the bottom of the tube..
I just noticed though that CoverGirl also do mascara with these kinds of wands (look very similar to MF, so guess they are associated lines maybe?)

Mermaidgirl, sorry, but could not find the ingredients. There might have been a little sticker on the tube when I got it, but I must have thrown it away... |

Tiger, you are a doll. I'd lost track of this thread and was going to tell you "that's OK, don't worry about it" after your first response. I really don't think that product comes with an ingredients list anyhow. I'm finding out that a lot of products sold outside the U.S. (and this is one product that cannot be obtained here) do not have ingredients listed, or do not have a complete list. Very interesting.
However, based on your rave review, I found a vendor in the U.K. to purchase the product from and am waiting for it to arrive any day now. All I can do is hope that it doesn't have any ingredients in it that will melt off with my heated lash curler. But if it does, no big deal anyhow because I'm experiencing that with the mascaras I already have, so I'll just have to use the heated curler BEFORE applying the mascara.
Thank you for checking, though; I really appreciate it! |

I haven't used this Max Factor mascara, but I have used Physician's Formula Mineral Wear which has the same kind of silicone brush, and I agree with everything tiger_tim said: the new brush is awesome! I think the Mineral Wear and the MF must have similar ingredients because like tiger_tim I've noticed NO flaking or smudging, but it washes off easily. There's a picture of my lashes with the PF Mineral Wear on this thread:

This is so funny...
I've been dying to try one of those silicone brushes too. And I love Kiss Me mascara. So I bought some MF Lash Perfection because they had the mascara tube sealed & the brush separate. I tried the silicone brush with the Kiss Me & I love it!! The new brush doesn't screw down on the Kiss Me tube, but it does fit over it tight enough to make a seal to keep the mascara from drying out.
I just bought some Dr. Hauschka mascara. While it does feel good on, it just makes my natural lashes glossy & darker - no lengthening or volumizing AND it gives me racoon eyes. I may try it on the top lashes & the Kiss Me on the bottom...
Or I may just have to open the tube of MF Lash Perfection & give that a try! |

Tiger, please tell me again how your tube looked when you got it.
I just received mine today from the U.K. person (not really a "vendor" after all, I got it off eBay UK) and it just barely made it here. She just dropped the tube in a paper envelope and threw it in the mail - no padding, to tape, no nothing to protect it in transit! The envelope was torn and the mascara tube was about 1/8th of an inch away from just falling out of the torn envelope! I'm so ticked off - I am going to e-mail the seller and tell her what a crappy packing job she did for a product coming from overseas, for Pete's sake!
Not only that, the mascara was not packaged in a box (I guess by your previous post, they do not come on blister cards or in boxes) and there was NO SEAL on the tube at all! Nothing to indicate it had not been opened and possible used! It actually did not appear to be used (having worked in cosmetics before, I usually can tell if a mascara has been opened and used) but I cannot be sure.
I'm really mad - I don't know if I should return this stuff or not? |

Mine did not come in a box - or any packaging actually. There was a band of clear tape where the lid screwed on, but some of the stock on the shelf did not have this. I almost never bought it thinking there was no safety seal, but luckily I dug down to the bottom of the rack and found one with the tape intact. Did yours not have the tape at the join of the pot and wand?
I hate sellers that dont package properly... |

Thanks for getting back to me, Tiger. Nope, NO tape sealing the lid to the body of the tube! But, I feel A LOT better hearing from you that most of the ones you saw weren't sealed, either. We just have such stringent rules here in the U.S. - there is NO WAY an unboxed/unpackaged and unsealed cosmetic item would make it onto a store shelf for sale! I actually found several sellers on eBay U.K. selling the mascara and I e-mailed about 5 of them asking how the item is packaged/if there's tape sealing the lid on. I'm waiting to see how many replies I get saying "no tape."
Yes, I hate it when sellers don't package properly as well. I bought some Victorian-era porcelain plates decorated with cherubs on them (EXACT duplicates of the ones shown in one of Rachel Ashwell's "Shabby Chic" books - except RA only had 2 and my set had 3!) from a lady in England. To this day, I am amazed the plates made it here all the way from the U.K. in the flimsy, unpadded box she sent them in - it was like a miracle that they arrived safely. They must've been blessed before they left the U.K. because they should have arrived here in 10,000 pieces. I still check them from time to time for chips, etc., but nope, they're fine! |

I wonder if they are selling sample tubes? Maybe the samples are not sealed.
Like on my tube you can still see where I pulled off the tape, but the ones in the store in Australia that had no seal you could not even see where it was taken off.
I too was shocked and seriously was not going to buy it - I would not want to buy something from a store without a seal - especially something going onto my eye. Japan is also stringent about safety and sanitary seals, so I have "turned Japanese" and become obsessed with them as well. |

Does anyone else find MF mascaras, including this one, seem to be dried up before you've even used them? I've had several and just find they all seem really dry - not impressed! |

Tiger, I received responses from 4 of the 5 eBay sellers I e-mailed and they all told me that the mascara came that way ... no box, no blister card, no ingredients list, no seal. They said "that's how things are here in the U.K." so I went ahead and used the mascara.
OH. MY. GOD! I'm glad I listened to you, and those sellers! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff! I was in too big of a hurry today to see if it will melt off if I use my heated curler AFTER applying it, so I used the curler first and then applied the mascara. This is the nicest look I've had with mascara - defined, longer, thicker but natural looking lashes that are NOT clumpy or spidery. Even though I'm fair-skinned with blonde hair, I have light brown eyes and am using this mascara in Rich Black and it looks great.
Now, I haven't used a really expensive mascara (like Lancome, Chanel, YSL or Dior) in years and have been content with drug store brands, so I cannot compare it to DiorShow or the other fab but costly mascaras, but this stuff ROCKS! It doesn't feel cakey, doesn't smudge and comes off quite easily with water alone.
Everything Tiger said about this product I have found to be true. Thanks for the rave, Tiger, I owe you one! |

happy to oblige!! If you decide you want other colors (brown, blue) LMK and I can pick up for you in Australia when I am home in June... at least they will be sealed! |

I have to tell you all that I've been reading about these mascaras with the innovative wand and finally picked up a tube of Cover Girl at CVS yesterday.
OMG, I love it!!! It's everything you've all said!!! My lashes are already pretty long and thick and now I have to slide my glasses down the bridge of my nose -- my lashes are just too long. Believe me, I'm not complaining. And I have to be honest, this happens when I use other mascaras too, but generally not with one coat.
The only problem is I had trouble removing it and discovered I bought the water-proof version by mistake I'm going back tomorrow for the regular and hope I like it as well. |

Tiger, you are so kind, thank you for offering. By June, I will certainly need at least another couple tubes (or more) and may have to get some more in Rich Black and the Blue. Brown is very pretty, but doesn't really show up against my brown eyes. Anyhow, I'll let you know when June rolls around! Thanks again! |

Hi MermaidGirl - Max Factor and Cover Girl are (I believe) owned by the same company, Procter & Gamble. And I'd be willing to bet that if so, the formulae are very similar if not exactly the same. Have you tried Cover Girl?
I'm not sure if there were any blue shades among their selections though.
Okay I just did a search and they ARE both P&G products, but I found one article that said Cover Girl blue/black isn't available in the US. I wonder why??? |

What is with Max Factor having these great products everywhere but in the US? There is a new Max Factor foundation (Age Renew) that is getting great reviews on MUA but I think it can only be found in the UK.
My grudge against P&G continues to grow (they took away my HG Reflect.com foundation)
I wonder if they will eventually release this mascara here? |

Hi April, thank you for that piece of info. I did not know that. I haven't yet tried the Cover Girl, but I'll probably need a new tube well before Tiger goes back to Australia, so I'll try it then. Wonder if they are similar enough that I won't have to have Tiger drag mascara half-way around the world for me?! |

FYI - I seem to recall someone mentioning that Max Factor products were available at Walmart, but I don't know if this is true or even if every store carries them. |

I think I have seen this mascara while shopping-- I'll have to check again. I have the Cover Girl, LashExact. I don't like it. The formula is crap. It seems clumpy to me, and after using it, I noticed I had some shedding. |

I experienced the same with the LashExact...went straight into the trash. I think I might try the Max Factor Volume Couture. |

Sundew, does the MF Volume Couture have the new iFX brush? I love the brush!
Since I'm experimenting with lash growth serums, I don't want anything that will promote shedding as I need to make sure the serums are working and wouldn't want to "blame" any side effects on the serums if it really was the mascara causing them. |
