Incase you didn't read the thread
"to get rid of annoying facial hair" ...I just came across another article supporting the idea of women shaving. Thought it was worth reposting the subject to pass on the link:

Very interesting. I wonder if a good exfoliant would do the same? |

I exfoliate twice a week. I can say that adding shaving to my routine has made a difference. I plan to continue as long as I can see to do it.

I can scarcely believe that I've started shaving my face.
I like doing it though. I bought a teeny tiny razor.
You people here have turned me into a weirdo.

I asked one of my co-workers who is a Japanese about shaving her face. she told me Japanese girls start to shave their face since Junior High. She said her mom (75+) still shaves her face daily!!!
I AM going to shave my face every morning standing right next to my husband!!!!! |

There's another thread of this. I don't doubt that it's a great exfoliating method, what scares me is the hair that grows back that can vary from each person to the next. Not trying to look like an ape man. |

LOL I have the same fears. I don't have any facial hair to begin with so my logic is "if it aint broke, don't fix it". It would be horrifying for me to try this once and be stuck doing it for the rest of my life. I think I'll pass on this tip. |

I dont know why I am scared to shave my face. It seems so...shameful?Admitting to shaving your face is like admitting you have an STD.Waxing and bleaching dont somehow seem as"embarrassing?" |

Will shaving do anything beyond what you get from using a daily chemical exfoliant? |

Yepper. It's like doing a mini dermaplane in your own home for cheap!
As I mentioned, it has made a difference for me. I am a medium-fair redhead (even though I prefer the term "auburn haired"). The hair on my arms is very pale and completely un-noticeable (just to give you an idea). My facial peach fuzz is just colorless fuzz. So, I've never experienced the stubble that some mention.

well...if you have colorless peach fuzz why shave?Nobody can see it anyway .Now if its dark I can understand the urge to purge with a razor. Yes, I can see the benefit of dermaplaning your face with a razors, Plastic surgeons charge a couple hundred dollars to"razor"your face.(I really want to do it but I am SCARED |

I don't mean to be repetitive, but I don't recommend shaving to remove hair on your face!!! Shave to save your face!! If you have a hairy face, get rid of the hair first, (waxing, laser, whatever) then start shaving daily. Everybody has some peach fuzz, which is not an issue if you shave it off. If you have darker, courser hair on your face, it will come back exactly the same, no more or no less, but it will come back with a blunt tip (which feels rougher.) I'm a 13 year veteran now and love what its done for my skin!I only wished I had started earlier when my dermatologist first recommended it to me. (I thought he was crazy!) Stupid me. |

Lucy, that was meant for those who fear that shaving causes hair to darken and creates stubble. I can only say that it doesn't cause my hair to darken and I don't have stubble. You know what happens if I don't shave for a few days? I get peach fuzz. LOL
Seriously, I've mentioned on this thread and others that I shave for the added exfoliation, which really does make a difference.
DH knows and thought it was hilarious at first. Then he "taught" me how to do it correctly. Now, he loves to touch my baby soft face. The other day, he said, "You shave and I shave and I've been shaving longer. How come your face is still softer and smoother than mine?" I said, "Silly. 'cause I'm a gurlllll."

First of all, I hope we are not pissing off some of the older forum members who know this topic has already been discussed! As long as anyone wants to chat about it, I'm game.
Monica: No! Don't use an electric razor. That defeats the purpose.
LucyLuc: No...I generally would not tell my boyfriends (did tell one though, and it was ok, but I knew his love was absolutely unconditional!) If it's hard for ladies to comprehend, imagine it for men! They don't need to know about everything we do to stay attractive! To answer your other question. I shave all over my face except my nose and that includes my forehead and crowsfeet area. For a many years I didn't shave the extreme sides of my face, sort of the sideburn area, because I was very peach fuzzy there, so I waxed it a few times first, and now I shave there too. I also shave my arms, which were/are very sun damaged. It has not helped the patchy discoloration I have on my arms, but they are silky smooth and soft. |

mountaingirl, can you tell me why you dont shave your nose?
I'm shaving my forehead with particular interest, because it's me most aged area, by far. I'd be inheaven if I could get an improvement on my craggy brow. |

well then maybe it acts as retin A does...making you exfoliate to reveal a new fresher layer of skin,mmmm...I wonder if I shave my crows feet if they would lessen with time and I wouldnt have to do botox? I bought an epilator a couple weeks ago and put it on my cheek to test it but it hurt like HELL! So I immediately stopped and then the next day I had little red spots from it so I dont think an epilator is appropriate for the face at least not for me being the wimp I am. I started Yag laser treatments, I had the first treatment over 2 weeks ago,my hair was supposed to fall out after 2 weeks but NOTHING fell out! I just might give the razor a wack ...its just so taboo in our culture...its like if a man started to wear a bra..its a deep secret I could never tell ANYBODY especially DH. |
