I was in Cayo Coco (small island off Atlantic side of Cuba) in middle of February last year.
No insects... but lots of JELLY FISH! they felt like silk when they brushed past you, but when they stung it only felt like a black-fly bite.
The weather was gorgeous, and I drank a lot of Mint Mojitos!!!! (although wine and beer are supposed to be the safest if you're concerned about the water).
Enjoy and don't forget your pepto! |

I wasn't bit by any bugs either. Do be careful with the water. I stuck with Beer.

Oh, you are going to have a wonderful time! My brother and SIL went to a Sandals resort for their honeymoon and said that everything from the rooms, to grounds to service and food were impeccable. Enjoy!! |

I went to Cuba a few years ago. Had a great time but was sometimes hard to get around due to the lack of petrol there.
I did not want to go to Varadero etc after the reports I'd had from my friends (didn't really see Cuba, could have been in any Carribean island, the locals get bussed into the resorts just to work for the day etc). We just booked flights and organised our initial accommodation throughwww.webhavana.com
Perhaps knowing what I know now re the petrol, I would not go independently again but with a specialist operator, for example the sorts of companies in the Cuba section ofwww.responsibletravel.com
By the way didn't have any issues with munchy beings and I loved the mojitos! |

DON'T Go. Very dissapointed with Sandals and have written to them and Virgin.
Too much to go into but trust me there's much nicer places. Off to China and Thailand next for three weeks! Lucky me. |

I've been to 25 countries and cuba was my favorite. although I didn't go with a tour, I stayed with cubans, and I speak spanish, so that probably made a difference. I was there during carnival and it was soooo beautiful and special. try to get away from the resort and tour stuff, if you or someone you're with speaks spanish. My main advice would be to watch your salt/booze/water intake, the heat and humidity will really get to you if you don't watch it -- my ankles swelled up like mad while I was there. |
