I just received Dr. Denese's Firming Facial Pads with Glycolic Acid, CoQ10, Vit. C, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Amino Acid Peptides, Vit E and A. I needed a light peel for my face and have wanted to try Dr. Denese's for a long time. The directions say: Do not use on neck. I am trying to figure out if this would be bad for my neck or is it to get the customer to buy the separate neck pads. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Because of the unusual cold we have had my face is in desperate need of a good exfoliation so my moisturizer will penetrate. I don't want to use it on my neck and chest area if it would be harmful. |

Dear Winnie,
I would take that caution VERY seriously. The skin on your neck is about 3x more sensitive that the skin on your face, not to mention many times more thin.
I had an ipl test spot done on my neck before I had the ipl done. I bruised heavily on my neck, and had absolutely no indications of the actual ipl on my face; they used the same setting. Please heed the directions or dilute the peel!

Hi Winnie,
I would see no reason why you couldn't use these on your neck, especially if you have used and AHA before. Yes the neck area is more sensitive than the face area but at most the neck firming pads probably aren't more than 12% and this is probably a mix of AHA's (yes I'm just guessing)
I say it's more of a marketing ploy--like you mentioned, to get you to buy the Neck Firming Pads. Why not try doing a test spot and see what happens. Also there is a huge devoted group of Dr. Denese followers on Delphi Forum. Maybe take a peek over there as well.
Please post a review if you can as I have been wanting to try these for ages.
HTH

Can you use a pad on your face and then use the same one on your neck? It might lessen the strength of the acid ...If you're concerned about the strength of the formula on the face vs. the neck you can always compare ingredients.
10% doesn't seem like much. |

The ingredients seem to be the same in both products. The only reason I know the Facial Pads have 10% Glycolic is she mentioned it on TV. The neck pads probably have a lower percentage of Glycolic Acid. Perhaps if I do my face first and find a way to dilute the pad strength before putting on my neck. I hate to buy seperate pads for my neck $$$$$$.
Do you exfoliate your neck? Perhaps I should just leave my neck be.
I will let you know how I do with this product. I have heard great things about her line. |

Whenever I use AHAs on my face, I use them on my neck as well and I've used 6% to 40% solutions, I've never had a problem with sensitivity or adverse reactions. |

I too use 10% to 20% on my face as well as my neck and have had no sdverse reactions. In fact my neck is all the better for it. |

I have used these Dr. Denese facial pads on both my face and neck for about a year.
No problem. |

Thanks so much for your replies. Last night I took a chance and used the glycolic pad on my neck. I did my whole face, tops of my hands and then spritzed the pad with my toner and did my neck. No stinging and my neck was fine this morning. BTW: My face loved this stuff. Will report back after a few weeks of use.
Thank you again. |

I do use higher glycolic% on my neck. I've found it to really improve the skin texture.
I always do a patch test under my chin before I use any new product.
The skin under your chin is very sensitive and doesn't show much so it is a good test. |
