On Friday, I went to the esthetician, this time to buy a new eyecream. I talked to a lady I had never seen before, and explained to her that I needed a rich eyecream for use at night, and she recommended one by Matis to me. OK, I bought it, but when I used it for the first time, I was really disappointed, because it was more like a serum/gel than a real cream, and very far from rich. I don't know what to do about it. Maybe she took the wrong one, or just assumed that it would be OK for me to have that balm, I don't know. But I am seriously unhappy with it, and I am considering making a complaint, since I asked specifically for a rich cream, and instead got a balm.

Is this reasonable of me? Do you think I should just accept the mistake done (the cream was pretty expensive, too)? Or should I go back and explain the matter. I have kept the receipt and package.

I would call and explain. There are plenty of $$$.$$ eye creams out there, always ask for a sample before buying. I have small fortune in eye creams I really don't care for. I keep them handy because sometimes I need to use a different consistency. I too have dryness under my eyes from Retin A .
When you find a rich hydrating eye cream that smooths the delicate tissues out please let me know what brand it is.

I think I'll pop by them tomorrow. They have been really nice and friendly there earlier. BTW, MD Formulations has a very hydrating eyecream, in the antioxidant line. It's called "Antioxidant Hydrating Eyecream". In this board, everybody seems to swear by Cellcosmet, but that's too expensive, I think. Maybe I'll change my mind when I've tried all the other brands....

I would like to try the Benefiance eyecream from Shiseido, as I've heard it's really good for dry skin.

It is most definitely not stupid of you. Most high end skincare/cosmetics lines gladly accept return items. Also, you didn't get what you asked for, just bring it back with your receipt and the box and get a refund.

totally agree with the others. i think that sometimes we need to stop hoarding those products that didn't work for us (come on, those of you with a cupboard - or two - of hardly used products, you know who you are!) and take them back, especially if it wasn't what you asked for. let us know how you get on!

Well, I'm back now, and I got another eyecream Smile This time she really listened to me and also asked the manager what she thought would be the most appropriate eyecream for my condition. I got the Hydrating Lift Eye Complex from Exuviance, and I will come back with a review once I've used it for a while.
