Hello,
This will not be a very positive review of cellcosmet eye contour cream.
Cellcosmet eye contour cream costs $180 on EDS, which I think is one of the fairest prices out there. Because of earlier rave reviews, I convinced a friend that she should buy it for me off EDS. I was very excited to use it, not only because of all of the amazing reviews, but also because the blurb about the product on the website makes it seem like a sensible, all-around excellent eye cream:
Quote: |
Cellular eye cream specially adapted to the delicate eye area.
Nourishes and ensures rich moisturization of the exposed skin around the eyes. Enriched with vitamins E + C to fight against free radicals. Helps prevent premature skin ageing. Softens and smooths skin texture. Excellent make-up foundation. Respects the natural ocular pH.
|
I received my cellcosmet eye contour cream about seven months ago, and I have been wearing it every day over vitamin c or on its own. I can say that the price for this amount of product is not bad at all; I could easily continue using this for another six months. Thus, I actually consider this eye cream to be cost-effective compared to many others.
I've used this cream religiously because I felt that it would protect and nourish my delicate eye area. It definitely is an excellent moisturizer, since my undereye area has never felt dry throughout the day during my use of this cream.
I must say that I am almost 31 with very normal to dry skin, not prone to breakouts, with fine lines underneath my eyes that tend to diminish if I wear HA, do a series of masks, or drink lots of water and take HA capsules.
I may have been expecting more from this cream, but I have noticed that my fine lines have only gotten deeper and more noticeable if I rely on this product alone to take care of my eye area. I presume that many positive reviewers out there had very dehydrated skin under their eyes and thus this cream really worked to improve the appearance of their undereye area. This cream has not, in my opinion, ever worked to improve, repair, or plump my eye area in any way.
I also have recently developed tiny milia underneath my eyes where I use this cream, and I've been suffering from the effects of poor microcirculation there (a bit of darkness/redness, puffiness). I decided that my eye area has only degenerated since I've been using this cream, and I feel that the adverse effects I experienced are due to the fact that it 'sits' on my skin all day, perhaps suffocating it. I trusted that the "bio-stabilized cells" could only help to regenerate or revitalize the skin under my eyes, but I now believe that the cream is too loaded with emollients and mineral oil to be that effective. Of course, this is only my skin that did not benefit from cellcosmet.
One more thing I will say: I used to use Osea's eyes and lips asa a morning eye cream, and keep it with me for reapplication during the day. Because cellcosmet is so moisturizing, even to the extent that my skin retained a greasiness long after application, I never felt the need to apply osea's eye cream during the day. When I decided that cellcosmet was my problem, I went back to osea and my eye area looks about 80% better just in one day--very toned, less dark, and reduced milia. I prefer Osea's eye cream because of its tonifying and firming virtues, and because it does not leave a film on the skin of any kind. Unfortunately, osea's cream 'sinks in' too much to my skin, so I must re-apply it midday. You can't win, can you?
All in all, I do not believe that cellcosmet is a wonder cream for the eyes--I do believe it is extremely rich and nice for those with extremely dehydrated skin, or for those skins who have never really used a fine eye cream before and whose undereye tissue needs a moisture burst. It does not firm, tone, or aid in cellular reparation of the skin, in my opinion. It merely functions as a rich moisturizer, and it does that perfectly well.
I will keep this cream on hand for when my undereye area becomes seasonally dehydrated, but I do not recommend it highly for everyday use on normal skin.
I could not find a breakdown of ingredients, but I seem to remember looking at the insert and asserting that theere is nothing out of the ordinary or that would turn me off to this cream. Because my skin always reacts badly to anything with mineral oil, I'm now wondering if this cream has mineral oil as a main ingredient and I merely missed it when I read the insert. If anyone knows, please post your knowledge here.
Best,
avalange |

well thank god, not about your fine lines getting deeper, but i had exactly the same experience with this cream. after two months of use my fine lines are not so fine anymore. was very disappointed with this product and now i need something else to correct the damage it caused lol just glad to hear that someone else had the same experience and hopefully if we stop using it things will get better |

I guess that I am very lucky that Cellcosmet Eye Contour does work for me, but I have to admit that I apply very little around my eyes. Not even a quarter of a pump from the full size but with the sample, I was putting on a lot. I even started putting it on top of my eye lids. I was not looking for any eye cream to fight wrinkles. After reading an issue from New Beauty, it states that no amount of eye creams and facial creams can remove wrinkles. Only Botox and other injectibles. |

Skincare,
To clarify, I am not expecting an eye cream to remove wrinkles, but I don't expect it make my existing fine lines deeper. The osea plumps up my skin a little and makes the lines appear nonexistent, and when I was using it for years, I had no lines. Now, sadly, I have a few, but I do not want them to get any worse. Retinol, HA, drinking lots of water, and getting enogh sleep really help to diminish lines--there is certainly a narrow spectrum of visiblity that we can control very easily...
I am very glad that cellcosmet works for you, and I don't want to bash it, just relay my experiences to others. It is the most wonderful thing when we find a product we really love, and that works...

Don't forget that pluping up the skin is not good also for long term use. Because you are making the skin swell up, which stretches the skin. That is why I try to make sure that I don't gain weight because if I lost the weight, then my skin would sag. |

Thanks for this review avalange. I feel that folks should hear it all, the good, bad and ugly.
I've been lemming for this for a long time, because I never actually read anything negative about it. Recently (in the Overhyped products thread, etc.) I've been reading more and more, getting a more realistic view of this product. Now it's not so desirable. I seriously can NOT afford to spend such money on an eye cream at this point, but I can say I've been tempted to "bite it" and do it.
Reading both sides of the table are really grounding my feet back into reality. This is a GOOD thing! |

I guess that one person's holy grail is always someone else's nightmare! I'd still like to try a sample of this, I'm constantly on the lookout for the perfect eye cream and haven't found it yet. |

If someone has the ingredient list for this eye cream, would they be so kind as to post it? Or just to let me know if it contains paraffinum liquidum as a main ingredient? Thanks!

Avalange,
i think you're still too young for this eye cream. In age of 30 there is still not much to do for Cellcosmet. Therefore it was sitting on your skin the whole day long (my 41 years old skin absorbs it within few minutes)

I changed from Shiseido to Cellcosmet - which is not a crap either... (and i'm still thinking to go back again, after using up my Cellcosmet) |

Have you tried Kanebo? I've heard good things about their eye cream. |

lin23,
thank you so much for this--you guys are all so intelligent and amazing, as always! I'm now using my old standby, osea's eyes and lips, and I'm very happy with it at the moment.
skincare, I'll check out kanebo, thanks for the tip!

In fact, I really don't mind tying out Kanebo but it is not available in Canada. If Kanebo is as good as I've heard. I would use one for a.m. and Cellcosmet for p.m. |

Skincare, I'm testing Kanebo's Sensai Eye Cream and Recovery Concentrate Eye at the moment and i'll give a go one of them.
They are both nicely mosturizing (important : don't run into my eyes). With the concentrate i feel some tightening effect as well. |

Lin-have you been using the Concentrate once or twice a day and how long did it take you to notice this tightening effect. I have only tried the sample of this which was two uses but am about to start using the full size today. I didn't notice any tightening but then again I would have only noticed it if it were an instant effect. |

I've been using it a.m.+p.m. for few days and it wasn't "shockingly" tightening. But as i have to decide which one of the two creams i'm going to buy i examined my skin carefully and had a very slight tightening feeling with the RC. The SA at the Kanebo counter told me to use both layered, the cream on the top of the concentrate - but you know, it's too fussy for me using two different eye creams. |

Botox is the only way to go with respect to wrinkles or to prevent wrinkles. |

Botox is an injection that you get. It's not a topical eye cream or anything. It is a substance derived from a toxin (botulism) that is injected into the muscle and relaxes the muscle so wrinkles ease. It is not permanent, you have to get more injections once it wears off.
In the U.S. at least, you have to go to a licensed professional to get the injections. You can't do it yourself (not that I'd want to do it myself!) but I don't know about other countries. |
