I tried to post this review twice last night, and for some odd reason, both times, the computer signed me out and the post was lost. Hoping third time is the charm.
Magic Mask is the Candessence aspirin mask. It is available for dry/normal or oily/normal skin, which I think is s lovely option. Unlike other aspirin masks I've tried, this mask adheres to the face, not falling off in chunks or anything. It is so gentle, so I really wondered if it was going to work. No pain, no gain type thinking I guess. BUT, there was no stinging, no uncomfortable pulling. I have used it twice, leaving it on for 15-20 minutes. Then, with wet fingertips, rub it in and then rinse off. My face was as soft as a baby's behind! And this mask does brighten. That would be enough. But wait, there's more! I have one enlarged pore at the side of my nose. Nothing ever changes it; it just is always there, about the size of the tip of a pin. Guess what? Gone! I couldn't believe it. So, if you have enlarged pore issues, you definitely ought to give Magic Mask a try. I used the dry/normal mask. Candy really has a winner here. Isn't she amazing? |

Cedar...thanks so much for posting this! I love aspirin masks, but the ones I make myself are kind of a mess...like you said, falling off in chunks, etc. And I do have some enlarged pores, so it's great to know this mask will help with that annoying issue!
This is going on my order along with the delicious new Almond Amaretto Latte Soap!

Oh, I'm certain I will! I've adored every Candessence product I've purchased, and this one sounds tailor-made for me (I'm going to get the one for oily/normal skin since my face is a grease bomb...ugh). Between making your skin glowing, soft and shrinking those nasty pores, what more could a person want in a mask?

Tell me more! Actually does Candy use crush up aspirin or is it 'like aspirin' but actually using salicylic powder?
I have been using CareKate's Brightening Mask to combat my very bad skin (little pimples pimple are popping up all over the place and I want to cry) but it just made things worse. I was just about to place an order for Dermalogica's Gentle Cream Exfoliant when I saw this on Candy's site. |

Cuppre, I know it's salicylic acid, but that's all I know. Perhaps ask Candy; she is so great about responding. Good luck. |

I've never tried an aspirin mask before but bought this (dry skin) along with other stuff from Candessence. It is amazingly active on my face! It tingles a lot but works. The tingling lessens after a few minutes (you're supposed to keep it on 15-20 minutes). |

This stuff is great!!! Made my skin smooth as a babies butt and gave me a great glow! I also used it as a spot treatment (monthly pimple, in my case about 2x's a yr) put it on at nite and by morning it was done!! Def winner. Theres more than one formula, I am not oily so I can't review the one for oiler skins, but for normal/dry this is great! |

I honestly don't know, I do think some did compare it in a diff review, if my brains working right, but I can't recall what the results were. I just haven't ordered from Carekate due to the fact I'd hate to actually like something that I then can't get my hands on. I can say Candys products are great, I do hear Carries are Fab as well, but I prefer to be able to actually order something. |

I haven't ordered anything from Carekate for the same reason. I have my wish list but am waiting til things hopefully settle down for her.
I can speak to loving Candessence's aspirin mask! I just reordered another jar (normal/dry skin).
Candessence (Seems like) Magic Mask
1 ounce $7.50 (request oily/normal or dry/normal)
http://www.candessence.com/SkinCare.html
A simple, effective mask utilizing AHA's & BHA's to soften and smooth your skin - while addressing blemish issues, old & new. Each contains my own special essential oil blend to address your skin type issues. Can also be used to 'spot-treat' - dab on blemish after cleansing, retire for the evening in the AM the blemish should have lessened in appearance.
Apply to dampened skin 2-3x per week for 15-20 minutes (as tolerated). Avoid eye area. A little goes a long way. Remove by wetting hands and lightly rubbing the mask off in small circular motions. Rinse thoroughly. Apply toner & other treatments as desired.
Ingredients: Salicylic acid, honey, glycolic acid, lactic acid, green tea extract, licorice root extract, French green clay or Rose Clay, lime juice, essential oil(s). |

I just ordered this in the normal/oily skin formula and will compare with CareKate's mask after I've used it for a few weeks.
I've been using CK's Super Brightening mask and really do enjoy it. It has cleared my face and help to fade my acne scars from high school. When I feel my skin getting congested, I put it on in the shower and then shave. I wouldn't recommend CareKate's mask for sensitive skin, it might irritate (I think it's the aspirin) some people.
I'm excited to try the Candessence mask! |

I am using Candy's magic mask and have previously used a sample of Carrie's supersonic mask.
I feel that Carrie's mask is a bit stronger. You can really feel your face tingle and sometimes it makes my eyes water a bit.
The magic mask that I ordered from Candy is a lot drier. I find that I really have to wet my face in order to spread it.
Otherwise, I can't really compare the two as I ran out of Carrie's sample a few months ago. |

I tried the Magic Mask for oily/normal skin last night. I followed the directions by applying it to my dampened face. After 1 minute, I have never felt so much stinging/burning in my life! I had to run and wash it off quickly. Luckily, it did not "burn" my face and the skin was super smooth.
I'm wondering what happened since I don't usually have sensitive skin. I've used the TCA Latter which should be a stronger acid with no problem. I've also used the 2% BHA from I Feel Pretty with no problem.
Anyone else getting the same burning feeling? |

I don't get the burning/stinging sensation at all. In fact I keep the mask on for at least 15 minutes. The only thing I feel during this time is a tight feeling as my face dries.
My faced burns more from PSF pumpkin mask. |

Genie,
I get a pretty strong tingling from Candy's mask (I use normal/dry) for almost 30 seconds - 1 minute. The first time I used I was afraid but kept it on. The feeling diminishes. I keep it on for 15-20 minutes without it "burning" my face. |

Ninetynine. Hmmm...I only got slight tingling from the PSF Pumpkin mask.
Lunarmm, I think I'll try to brave it next time and see if I can stand to have it on my face for a longer period. Even the short amount of time it was on my face, it made the skin really smooth so I like the end results. |

I tried a sample of the PSF pumpkin mask today for the 1st time. My skin did not tingle anywhere near how much it does with Candy's Magic Mask. I just felt a slight tingling with the Pumpkin mask. |

I used this mask for the first time a couple of nights ago; skin it. Bought the dry/normal even tho' have combo skin cuz knew I'd probably use it more frequently, but leaving it on for less time.
Since my T zone is easily congested, I use it there every 2nd morning, leaving it on for about 8 min. and then v. lightly circulate the residue around face before rinsing.
Yes, all Candy's products I've used are great. And the olive oil w/ sea kelp soap - to die for. Fragrance is heavenly. |

This mask is AMAZING!!! I adore the lime...and the best part is a little goes a loooooong way. I've also been using it to spot treat (I'm heading into finals and have had a stress breakout) while I'm in the shower. It's helped clear up my sorry face that is suffering from graduate school.
Definitely a winner! ![](images/smiles/041.gif) |

just a thought on stinging, when I tried the juice green apple, I thought man this stuff strong, it burned like mad, I couldn't believe people were able to leave on for 20 mins, until the second time I used it, no burning at all. I realized I had used a cleansing scrub prior to first use and thus had abrated my skin prior to the mask...I also have rino skin, in that I do not react sensitive to anything. So just a thought if you'd peeled or scrubbed anytime recent to using the mask for the first time. |

MelissaMarie must have read my mind. I tried the Magic Mask again tonight except I did not use my Clarisonic brush first. This time the mask stung a little and then stopped stinging. I was able to leave it on for the full 15 minutes. My skin was again so smooth afterwards. Yeah! I love this mask! |
