I've been using Alima make up for a while now, but I only just got into using their lip balms. I have no idea what took me so long, though, because suffice to say I LOVE them!!  I've been looking for the perfect mineral-based lip color for quite a while now, and Alima's definitely fits the bill. The colors are GORGEOUS, it's light, has no smell or taste, isn't sticky at all (perfect for kissing!), AND it doesn't contain any carmine. I'm not gonna lie: I've never been thrilled by the thought of putting crushed up beetles on my face, so I'm happy that Alima's products are carmine-free. I basically love all the ingredients--- all high-quality, and supposedly DMAE will help plump your lips--- I'll keep you guys updated!^-^
I've read that some people ordered samples of the Alima lip balm and were dissatisfied because the samples were hard to use. I agree that the samples can be difficult, but I found the best way to apply them is not with your finger or a lip brush, but my using the top of your fingernail or a little spatula to dig a small chunk of the balm out of the sample jar, and then smooth it over your lips. Because this balm is so light, I don't think it would provide enough moisture on its own in the winter, so you'll probably still want another balm underneath.
Let's talk colors---- they are so beautiful~! So far I've tried Sugar Rose (a neutral peachy pink), Chai (a neutral sheer beige), and Nutmeg (bronze). I'm PPP (in Alima colors I'm a mix of C-0 and W-0), with brown hair and blue eyes. Sugar Rose and Chai were both AMAZING on me. I've ordered full sizes, and they have already been christened with HG status. Chai is esp. nice--- it goes well with neutral eye makeup, and it also complements dark/bright evening makeup, and I honestly think it would be nice with any skintone. Nutmeg unfortunately was just a bit too dark for me, so I will not be ordering a full size of it. However, I think it would look very nice on someone with a naturally darker skin tone than mine. I've been hearing good things about Guava, so I'm sampling that one next!
Alima Nourishing Lip Balm can be purchased atwww.alimacosmetics.com. It costs $1 for a small sample pot with around a week's worth of product, and $6.50 for a full size chapstick-style twist-up tube.
The ingredients are:

I have Alima lip balm in Guava and Garnet. I agree that the colors are very nice and sheer. One thing I really don't like is they're not very moisturizing at all  |

| I also like Alima's sheer colouring and agree with lynn they're not very moisturizing. For the price it's not expensive but I would rather spend it on Carekate's tinted balms as they're much more moisturizing and if you need a colour you can always send her a swatch! |

I do agree. For me, that fact combined with the very sheer colour, meant that I found I had no reason to use them, as I like more moisturiser and more lip colour in a lip product. |

I only wear them on those days that I'm not wearing any makeup at all or when I've been home all day not wearing any makeup and just wanna brighten up my face a little bit before my boyfriend gets home   Otherwise, I do agree it's not much use. I can't imagine myself wearing full makeup with Alima lip balm. |

| So far the lip balms are my only disappointment with Alima. They don't seem particularly good at preventing or treating chapping, the colors are very faint but with an annoying faint shimmer, and they wear off quickly and have to be reapplied. Won't be ordering again... |

| I ordered Hellebore which they call a Soft Pink. It goes on very soft and I like the feel of it, but I'm not sure I love the colour (I'm a N-1). It's nearly a little too frosted for me. I think I'd like it better if the colour were a little more natural looking. I might test out some of the other colours with a future order because I do like the quality of the balm itself. I'd also probably be more inclined to wear it at home when I'm not wearing much makeup, then when I'm going out and am more "done up". |

Actually, the sheerness is one of the reasons why I love this balm so much. I used to wear a lot of heavily-pigmented lipsticks in college (MAC's Ruby Woo was a daily driver for me  ), but now that I'm married and not trying to catch the eye of every guy on campus ( ) I prefer a more subtle look. Plus, I like to wear sheer colors because I can feel a little more polished, but I can still kiss my DH and bunnies without making a mess, and I can drink from my coffee cup without staining it. When I want more color I reach for Lancome's Juicy Rouge which is an ultra-glossy semi-sheer lipstick, but for everyday wear Alima's balms are the best option for me. |

I do agree. They seem to have a strange faint shimmer too them. They look frosted on me when they wear off. All that's left is just bits of shimmer all over my lips! |
