I've been using IFP Pearl primer powder for the last 2 weeks and finally feel qualified to offer a review.
The packaging could use a little more thought. It's a very generous amount, but I really wish it came in a larger container with a sifter. As it was, I instead transferred this to an empty mineral powder dispenser from Everyday Minerals.
I'm very pleased that it really does reduce the shines from all the product I place on my skin in the morning. I use a full size kabuki brush to apply underneath MMU. Not so surprising because I'm used to silk powder, but the white powder sinks in very quickly and doesn't leave you looking like a geisha girl! Like silk dust, it balances itself to your skin whether oily or dry. For me, oil is controlled for hours with very little need for blotting papers even during the intense heatwave we've recently had in SoCal.
The ingredients are quite nice [posted below] but I don't think this will replace my beloved 100% pure silk powder simply because the texture is just a little too gritty. The grittiness is especially noticable on the days where I don't wear any makeup and I just dust this on top of my sunscreen. Other than the texture, this is a very nice product and value.
Ingredients: oryza sativa (rice) powder, silk powder, pearl powder, silymarin powder, hydrolyzed oat protein, titanium dioxide, & zinc oxide. |

Well, one mystery solved about why this doesn't come in one of those containers with the sift top. Apparantly pearl and silk powders can be negatively impacted by light and the supply of containers that include sifters are clear. My EDM sifter has a colored lid, but the rest is clear. Now that I think about it, I've never seen a completely opaque container for powders.
Fortunately I keep all my makeup in a closed bag. For those of you who also use pearl/silk powders, be sure to protect it from the light. |
