Can anyone tell me how good/bad this skin care line is? I have heard mixed reviews and due to its expensive nature I am reluctant to go out and buy any of it without getting further advice. Magda - is this a line that you stock or will be stocking at all?

Thanks!

La Prairie is considered what the cosmetic industry refers to as a "luxury" cosmetic line. These are found in department stores, and their ingredients are not as active as those used by skincare professionals in spas. As everything we use is of a professional nature, we do not have any information about, nor know the effectiveness of La Prairie skincare. We do not plan to stock this line any time in the foreseeable future, as we sell professional skincare only. However, if you do buy their skincare, please let us know what your opinion is of it. We always like to read of others' experiences.

Hello Peter,

La Prairie has always been both a department store and professional cosmetic brand. You can see the spas that stock the brand at their website:
http://laprairie.com/shoponline/spa.html

It is also used at the Clinique La Prairie Resort in Montreux:www.laprairie.ch

Their products are only available through selected outlets, and online only permitted through their own channel. There are other sites out there selling their products, but they are clearly neither authorized and often list long-discontinued products likely to have expired.

As examples, with 20% vitamin C in their C serum, combined with other vitamins and nutrients, and the most powerful antioxidants on the market (pycnogenol, disputase, vinifera) being able to be combined within the one product, it has been I think for the last 10 years one of the most active and scientifically sound ranges.

Unfortunately the cost probably precludes usage generous enough to garner the results they have in mind for many people.

Personally I have found many of their products for oily skin way too strong for me. On the other hand their sensitive and normal skin care, retinol skin care and caviar have been a god send! I can also report that using less of their products rather than all of them in a full line within the range has given better results. I don't think my skin likes to be bothered too much. The oily skin care is *very* activating.

I think the best thing for you would be to find a stockist you can trust, which could mean going to a few, try a few facials in a set, and take away basic skincare and a few samples with you.
