I am looking into this to get me some higher strengths in some skincare stuff
especially when you in the uk you csn barely get anything you want anyway without having to order online so this seems like a good idea
does anyone have any experience they can share? |

I've used one for HRT, with progesterone and estriol, my hubby also for testosterone, but not for skin care, although I have heard one of the estrogens in a cream can be whipped up for the skin...0.03% I believe. Sorry can't be more help. |

I worked in a compounding pharmacy for several years. I know that we compounded several creams with high-strength hydroquinone (including some mixed with RX acne treatments) and a few other treatments for eczema but that's really about it. Most of the topical RXs we compounded were BHRT (bio-identical hormone replacement) creams.
You would have to have a prescription for anything you wanted compounded, so you may want to ask your dermatologist for some suggestions.
Specifically, what treatments were you hoping to have compounded? |

It may not be possible to get a higher strength. I'm almost certain that the highest percentage of hydroquinone that you can get either OTC or RX is 4%. Anything higher than that would be very harsh and irritating.
It looks like you're already using some really serious products on your skin. Retin A alone kills my skin, so I can't imagine using it along with glycolic acid and hydroquinone. I think I would give the 4% a little longer to work and then consult your dermatologist about trying to get a higher strength compounded. |

i have already contacted 2 places and they do a 8% i have even seen a 20% face peel as well not that i want that
the glycolic acid i use on my face every 3 weeks im not treating my face for pigmentation im treating my stomach
i have been using the 4% for at least 3 months now im not talking about a little darkness here its very bad
the obagi 4% even on the website it says it for mild to moderate im alot worse than mild to moderate
yes i have seen improvement with the 4% but it is very stubborn
but thanks again |

Sorry, londongirl! I must have misunderstood. Sounds like a very frustrating situation!
A compounded script for the higher strength should help and it may be possible to include other products that would be beneficial as well. |

No problem! Glad my pharmacy knowledge paid off! Good luck and keep us posted!
One more thought from the peanut gallery...
Have you tried Lustra cream? Hydroquinone 4%, but they make a few different formulations, inluding one with retinol and one with glycolic acid which would both help with cell turnover. And they all contain sunscreen, moisturizers, and antioxidants. Just thought I'd throw that out there...
